396.0. "Killer Dwarfs" by VESTA::BHARRISON (Hi out there... Whatever you are..) Tue Dec 13 1988 07:47

Well where do I start, Old MoshDuck and myself attended a concert
at the Hammersmith Odeon last night, twas Iron Maiden, supported
by the KILLER DWARFS. Now I know nothing about this band, but I
was mega-impressed with their stage show. There were four, slightly
small people running and jumping around. The antics were mostly
visual but I will try to explain. The lead singer was an excellent
front-man, his stage acrobatics were excellent, he perfomed back
flips, head-stands, hand stands and at one point fell flat on his
arse. Just after they came on stage, the lead singerdecided to have
a sing in the auditorium, and left the stage for a run around the
audience. His radio mike was pushed to the limit as he went into
the foyer (still singing). A priceless piece of showmanship.
This was the first concert I've been to that I laughed so much at.
The best bit was when he came on stage, riding a kiddies trike,
singing away like a good 'un.
As this was the last date of the tour, the roadies attacked them
with custard pies etc, and their bit finished with them being dragged
    off stage by the roadies.

I was well impressed, not only by their stage show, but the music
weren't half bad either, get outta my way as I head for the record
    shop.

Has anyone else seen them ? Or have you any more Info, as I'd like
to know. They sounded American, but you never know.

    See Ya - P.

ps MoshDuck will do the Iron Maiden Review.

I believe that KD are an American (read: Calif) band. THey
have one album that I know of called Stand Tall??? Thy're not bad.
They have promo shots of them all on Harleys except the singer..hes
on a trike.. it's a riot. They also have 2 or 3 vids that MTV shows
    occasionally on the HBB....

This type of fun/show band seems to bring back memories of the
    Alexander Harvey band.

Don't know anything about Alexander Harvey, but I've seen the Killer
Dwarves on HBB a few times and enjoyed both the music and the videos.
I'd like to hear more of their stuff.

Nope Bri, KD's are from Canada. These guys are
damn funny!!! Ever seen the "how to make an
album" video? Too funny. The singer is a
maniac, I partied with them a couple of years ago
when they played Celebrations. I like how their
last names are all "Dwarf" on the album.

Funny, funny, funny band. Excellent music too.

Yup, Rob, you beat me to it. I got my copy of Kerrang today, within
it's pages was a review of the Killer Dwarfs. As you said they hail
from Canada. The reviewer also said the best bit was when Russ Dwarf
came onstage with a kiddies tricycle. -" A sight I shall treasure
    for eternity".

I just heard "Dirty Weapons" on the HBB. For some reason
I thought the band was going to be much more thrash/speed
    	than it was.

Anyone have any comments on this latest release?? Would
I like it?? Is it worth picking up??

Yea.....But that's what makes it great!! Ya gotta have an angle....8)

FWIW-The Killer Dwarfs are only pulling in about a hundred people in
their own home town. Man...That would SUCK for a label band.
Which leads me to say...."Just because ya get signed doesn't mean
you're going to be big....That's when the REAL work starts!"
