YUP...
All the above...I love ballads. I have a memory for every one.
1) Fade to Black = Metallica: Was my life.
2) Before the Dawn = Judas Priest: After a great nite with that
special person...who doesn't think you're that special...
3) I Surrender = Amoured Saint: Seriously!(pardon the spelling)
4) Can't remember the name right now, but, it's the guitar solo
on the Tooth and Nail album just before the title song.
I don't think it's possible for a songwriter to come out with a heavy
metal ballad I won't like...They're always beautiful.

-< DANCING WITH A HEAVY METAL BALLAD BABE >-
Yea, though I crave the metal, I also crave the feel of dancing
with a good woman to a HM ballad, so here are a few to cause
friction between the metal women and men.
Lights - Journey (early HM ballad?)
Alone Again - none other than rokken Dokken
Is this Love - Whitesnake (pop HM ballad)
Her Love - 2EZ (even though I haven't danced to it yet)
I know it's hard to believe, but yes it has happened
my mind has drawn a blank. All I can think of is all
those HM babes I've loved before. (catchy line, think
it will sell. HA!)

I especially enjoy the Made in Japan live version. Some killer

using that over processed MIDI sound. Too bad the Hammonds are

There have been some excellent choices eg. Whitesnake and Great
White. But when a band thats' music is mainly fast does a ballad
watch out. Some of these are:
South of Heaven - Slayer (its slow for them)
Sanitarium + Fade to black - Metallica
Wild Child + Widowmaker + Sleeping in the fire - WASP
re .38 Watch the children pray - Metal Church
re .71 Gods of Wrath - Metal Church
All the fools sailed away - DIO
And the all time greatist has got to be*****

mellow for them, but hardly a ballad).

I don't think this topic has been brought up yet but I've always
had this knack for mellow songs done by heavy metal bands. I like
the way they can really blow the power into a song. Here is a list
of some of my favorites. And as the commercials say, "I hope they're
your favorites, too!"
Black Sabbath - Solitude [Master of Reality]
Cinderella - Don't Know What You Got (Till it's Gone) [LCW]
Nobody's Fool [Night Songs]
Guns n' Roses - Patience [G n' R Lies]
Scorpions - Lady Starlight [Animal Magnetism]
Still Loving You [Love at First Sting]

re. .142
Thanks for your reply.
>>What band is he with? (of is the band named after him?)<<
Eikichi Yazawa was the member of "CAROL".But he jointed to
nowhere now. He is solo singer.
This pronunciation is A,E,Ki,Chi - Ya,Za,Wa.(This is said by
our secretary Miss Misako Iwabuchi)
I think it:
"E" is empire's "E"
"I" is include's "I"
"KI" is king's "KI"
"CHI" is chicken's "CHI"
"YA" is young's "YOU"
"ZA" is ZAPPA's "ZA"
"WA" is Wasington's "WA"
Are you all right? I hope so. :-)
And I don't know if these are sold in US.It may be sold in where
like a Little Tokyo.

Why do The Scorpions seem to make the best ballads.
I think it is mainly because they are so brill at playing &
Clause if one hell of a fantastic singer.
They will always come top in this note for me.

FXADM::SECURITY "Home is where I should be.." 8 lines 24-AUG-1989 17:08
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I notice more and more heavy metal bands are coming out with
slow songs. I think it adds a nice touch to an album and certainly
doesn't hurt the band. They sound good, heavy but gentle. what are
your favorite H-M slow songs?the one that comes to my mind in "goodbye
to romance" by Ozzy.Let the discussion begin..

I thought someone would have mentioned it by now, but I guess not.
It's wicked sad, I heard the lead singer wrote it for his real-

the background, maybe that's supposed to be her. Then, again,
videos hardly ever make sense, anyway.

Thanx Shawn. I think I'm gonna have to pick this up - that's two songs off
that album I like!
"Fly High Michelle" is a beautiful song, written by the guitarist for
his girlfriend, who comitted suicide. 8^(
And on top of that, its a very well written song - the bridge between between
the verses and chorus is *very* well done! These guys know their way around
songwriting!

Just about all I've listened to was bad commercial radio between
Colorado and North Carolina. I can't believe how many bad rock
stations there are out there. I even resorted to listening to the
country stations, at least they played some music done in the last 5
years. Man, it was like attack of every bad song you can think of from
the 70's!
There was a cool college station out of Manhatten, Kansas that rooled.
Heard a LOT of great music from that one!

| I hear ya Mike...Michael is more of the melodic style and I know for
sure Oz is the raw metal man. You can tell in the music. Michael was
playing the smooth melodic leads and Oz was playing the raw wild
leads. They did incorporate the sounds tastefully as best they could
though. But, Michael has a wider range of music ability especially on
the ballards. I tend to lead toward that style myself--not in my lead
playing but in my writing. I enjoy writing ballards more than anything.
I think wherever each mite go they will still be successful. Can't wait
til' I hear some of there stuff w/ there new bands. Thereis so much
talent with these guys...
