41.35temple declares bankruptcySMURF::LARRYFri Mar 28 1997 12:4916
Surprised no one mentioned it yet ....
Temple Mountain has declared bankruptcy (chap. 11 I think).
Plans for next year are uncertain. Saw an article in the NH
Telegragh which gave very little information except that it
would be sorely missed by the school systems, locals and
    beginner types.
One tidbit they did give was they were bit by some loan scam
that cost them about $35,000. They were trying to build a new
lodge but didnt quite get there because of town permits and such.

Temple is not much but it is great for beginners to learn.
I personally think the larger mountains owe places like temple.
Kids learn at Temple and then spend the big bucks at K-mart.
    Very unfortunate,
I hope they just reorganize and open but who knows,
    Larry

I am also dissapointed with the bankruptcy news. I have chapparroned
the Ledge street school program from Nashua for the past two years and
Temple mountain has worked out great! Not only did my own two sons
learn to ski, but I also took advantage of the chapparone lessons and
haven't looked back! I also agree that some of the bigger mountains
benefit from having a learning mountain like temple around.
Although we have tried and enjoyed several larger mountains, Temple
fills a nice nitch and is a nice way to spend a few hours on a Friday
    evening.
As it said in the Herald, if it stays closed, it will have a big
impact on the Nashua programs. Pats peak is one of the only other close
alternatives and they would have problem with the load that Nashua
would place on it. Other than Pats Peak, you would be loking at Gunstock
or maybe Wachusett as alternatives ( both long rides on a Friday night
with 50 kids screaming in your ear! :)
