    The DIGITAL GKS Development Group is pleased to announce that the SSB kits
    for DIGITAL GKS V6.5 for DIGITAL UNIX (formerly DEC OSF/1 AXP) are now
    available.

NOTE 1: The name of the product has been changed from DEC GKS to DIGITAL GKS.

NOTE 2: The base subsets are larger than for GKS V6.1 (or earlier)
    because of the incorporation of a large body of code for MapKernel fill
    simplification.  See the Release Notes for further information.

NOTE 3: GKS V6.5 requires V2.0 or higher of OSF/1 AXP, (or DIGITAL UNIX
    V3.2 or higher), and Motif V1.2.  Applications built with GKS V5.3 may not
    require relinking.  Applications built with pre-5.3 versions of GKS are
    likely to require relinking.

NOTE 3a: GKS V6.5 is the *LAST* version of DIGITAL GKS that will support
    DEC OSF/1 AXP V2.0.  Future versions of GKS will require DIGITAL UNIX
    V3.2 or higher.

NOTE 4: GKS V6.5 includes extra, Japanese-specific subsets.
    GKS/Japanese has been merged into DIGITAL GKS.  There is no longer
    a separate GKS/Japanese product.
    
NOTE 4a: Installation of the Japanese-specific subsets no longer
    requires the presence of any other Japanese-specific subsets,
    e.g. Japanese OS subsets.  The Japanese subsets consist primarily
    of fonts, the Japanese GKS manpage, and the Japanese Motif UID file;
    installing these files does not overwrite any other files.

NOTE 1: These kits REQUIRE (at least) OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 *AND* Motif V1.2.
NOTE 2: These kits contain extra savesets (AXPGKS065.D, AXPGKSRT065.C)
    containing Japanese components.  GKS/Japanese is no longer a separate
    product.

NOTE 1: The kits support both Motif V1.1 and Motif V1.2.

NOTE 2: The kits contain extra savesets (DECGKS065.F, DECGKSRT065.D)
    containing Japanese components.  GKS/Japanese is no longer a
    separate product.

NOTE 3: The kits require (at least) V5.5-2 of OpenVMS VAX.  If you are
    running OpenVMS Version 5.5-2, the DEC C/C++ Runtime Library
    Components Version 6.0 for OpenVMS VAX are also required. If you
    see error messages like these:

    %DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, error activating image CMA$TIS_SHR
    -CLI-E-IMAGEFNF, image file not found
     SYSNAM$DSKNAM:[SYS0.SYSCOMMON.][SYSLIB]CMA$TIS_SHR.EXE

    then you are missing the DEC C/C++ Runtime Library Components.
