3072.0. "Hafler P-225" by NCMAIL::SOFIA (Fenders belong on cars!) Tue Apr 18 1995 11:16

Does anyone know the specs for a Hafler P-225? I've just aquired one for
use as a PA and was wondering about it's ratings, etc.

I've used Hafler's before. While they are a nice clean amp,
I've had problems with overheating shutdowns...

    Just my 2 cents,

I believe these were mainly designed for home stereo applications,
not pro-audio. If it is designed for home use, it may not be as
road-worthy as it needs to be for a PA application.

It also may be intended for an 8 ohm load. Unless it has a fan, it
probably won't like a 4 ohm load. I would suggest you find a phone
number for Hafler and request a manual. I'm pretty sure they are still
    in business.

Thanks folks. The gent I bought this from say's the "P" means Hafler's
professional series for musicians (this thing has 1/4 inch input jacks and
banana output jacks).

I wasn't very sucessful finding a phone number for Hafler.

I know folks that use the haflers for PA applications. There
is a way to bump up the temp threshold (which is 85 degrees-F).
I'll try to find out just how this is done...

If you're looking for good, clean, reliable power amps for
a very reasonable price... try the Carvin amps. I just bought
a couple of 1000w Carvins for $599 each... I've been using one
for a monitors and the other for the low-end... great amp!!

I'm big on the AB Internetional amps. The 1100A is a fine unit.

I've gotten some mail offline that has pointed me in the right direction.
Hafler is now a division of, or merged with, Rockford Fosgate. I called
them today and they claim to be sending me a manual.

Thanks to all who've responded.
