2992.0. "New music store start-up in Manchester, NH" by SPEZKO::FRASER (Mobius Loop; see other side) Sun Oct 23 1994 11:30

A couple of folks we know are giving business a shot and have
newly opened a guitar/amp store in Manchester, NH.

Dan and Nikki Lord - Absolute Music

85 Manchester St. [just off Elm St, on right heading north on Elm]
        Manchester NH 03101

        Tel: [603] 625-9411
        Fax: [603] 625-9455
        Email: ROCK-KATZ@AOL.COM

They're nice folks, so if you're in the area, stop in and say
hi. Dan's a pro bass player (Steinberger and just picked up a
Hamer 12 string bass - it's worth a visit just to try that
one!) working with a number of local bands.

        As a start-up, they're carrying Hamer, Jackson, Charvel, B.C.
Rich, Samick electrics, Samick, Fender and Charvel acoustics
and Dean Markley and Samick Amps - with expansion coming as the
business grows, plus the usual magazines/polish/picks/tuners
etc. They're also hooked in to the on-line dealer/distributor
        network for special orders/inventory etc.

Repairs and lessons are also available.

        Andy

P.S. Standard disclaimer - we have no connection, financial or
        otherwise with this business.

Hmm, I noticed that the e-mail address is ROCK-KATZ...

Is one of the owners of the store the bass player who used to play in
a Manchester-based band called the Rock Katz, or Rock Cats, or
something like that? If so, I think he used to work at Belisle Music.

        Hi Willy,

Looks like he gave a bum pointer for Email - should be ROCKKATZ
I think. Dan used to work at Belisle Music before he started
his own business with his wife Nikki (Mr. Belisle's daughter!)
and in the spirit of saying nothing negative, I'll leave it at
that. Dan seems to have realistic expectations when it comes
to prices, which is more than can be said etc.

Belisle Music always seemed to me like it belonged in another era
somehow. I never really understood that store or how they stay in
    business.

I'll have to drop in to the new store and check it out. Maybe I can
convince them to add a drum dept too. ;^)

Much like the Belisle Musician's Club upstairs from the store. Never was
actually inside the place, but it looked like something out of the 40s.
Of course, private clubs are/were still somewhat popular in N.H.

Was Belisle's right on Elm St. ??? I seem to remember an old-fashioned
type music store on Elm when I worked for the phone co. in Manchester
    long ago....

Yup, Belisle Music is still operating on Elm Street, at the southern
    end of downtown Manchester.
