I've come across a Gibson guitar and Peavey that may be for sale and
would like some input from you folk.

The Gibson is a Gibson "Artisen", it's heavy, with all gold features
(pickups, turn screws so on). The color is really dark might be black.
It has three pickups with volume, tone controls. Have no idea on the
    age.

The AMP is a Peavey 212 BW Duece. It's not that big, looks like a small
Fender single. It has a few effects, reverb, dist so on.

There was anothes AMP there as well, EMC G400, 117v, 60Hz, 300Watt
speaker unit with Peavey auto mixer. This is a big speaker unit it
would be hard to move around, the Duece is more portable.

I need to know what would be a fair price to expect to pay for the
above. The owner cleaned out a relitives house and that's how he came
across them. He's going to call music store's to find out what the
stuff is worth, can't wait to see what their going to fill his head
    with.

Any and all help is welcomed. I need feedback asap as he'll be call me
sometime this morning for my answer on his findings.

    Thanks,
Gordie, who's still playing his "63" Silvertone

2952.1Artisan prices and datesRANGER::WEBERFri Jul 22 1994 10:5510
A Gibson Les Paul Artisan with two pickups is probably from 1976-1979,
if it has three pickups, from '79-'82. Black was one of the standard
    colors.

In really nice condition, a black one is worth around $1000-$1200, a
    Sunburst one from $1250-$1500.

Someone else will have to help you with the PV.

     Hi Dan,

I found a Gibson/Les Paul book at a local book store and it mentioned
that the Artisen ran during the years you mentioned, 76-82. It showed
a two pickup model and said that earlier models, 76-77, had three
pickups. Well, at that price it will be out of my reach.

Three pickups were always available, but my Gibson literature shows
that they shipped more three-pickup ones in the later years. If the
guitar has an 8-digit serial # starting with 7 or 8,
the 1st and 5th digits will tell you the year.

Thanks Dan. If I get that far, looking at the #'s, I'll try to make
out the year. Boy that thing was heavy. How could you hold that
up at a five hour gig, "you only want to pay me 50 bucks for the job"
but I carried in my Gibson from the lot.

Peavey Duece...

Shop around... Those amps are weird... I knew a few guys who
had em, they kept complaining that the amp never sound the
same from night to night.. So since the complaints were two for two,
I asked one of the guys if he'd mind leaving it with me for a week
or two.. (To which he said "TAKE IT!")

I noticed it right away.. really wierd..

<< Boy that thing was heavy. How could you hold that

Your shoulder is mush first few times... I've got a 78 Ibanez MC400..
Close to 15 pounds. I'm a small guy, 5' 6" 148 lbs... for me it's
a wicked heavey axe... compared to my fenders (tele/strat) which
are half the weight.
