2945.0. "Lenny Kravitz" by NACAD2::HERTZBERG (History: Love it or Leave it!) Tue Jul 12 1994 13:54

Unless dir/tit isn't working any more, this is the Lenny Kravitz note.

I really like his songwriting, even if he does think he is Stevie
    Wonder/Jimi Hendrix/Prince/Billy Joel/The Beatles or whoever, I still
    like it.

Lots of very decent (to my ears) guitar playing on the records, too.
Not sure how much of it is Lenny and how much are sidemen. Didn't he
do a one-man-band thing on some of the early albums? On the "new"
album, "Are You Gonna Go My Way" has some sizzling guitar playing and
"Black Girl" sticks in my mind with some Hendrix-inspired riffing on
the verses and a lead with very gutsy tone.

Lenny is a noted tube bigot. Also gives some of the most foul-mouthed
    interviews I've ever read. ;^)

Anyway, tonight at 10PM on MTV, it's Lenny Unplugged.

I love the "Deuce" remake up and down. Whether the
Kiss Army likes it or not ain't my problem...

I take it by the term "tube bigot" that you mean he's a fan of solid
state? I've never read any of his interviews......

Tube, and old Seventies Studio Equipment/Gear Fan.

It goes beyond fan... if it has a transistor in it, Lenny thinks it
sounds like f&*(@!$ s&#(! This goes for keyboards on his recordings,
too, of course. Gotta be an old B3. And you don't think he records in
    digital studios, do you?

That's the way I heard it, anyway.

Hey! Watch what you say about old B-3s. :^) I'm starting to like this
    Kravitz guy.
