2925.0. "2x12 Stereo Guitar Cabinets" by STORK::CURRY () Tue May 03 1994 14:16

    What is your opinion of the various stereo 2x12 guitar cabs that are on
    the market? I played through an ADA T2-12 over the weekend and thought
    it sounded quite good. Are there others that you think sound better?
    I wouldn't have the room to store a 4x12 cab in my apartment, so that's
    why I'm looking at these......

I 've got a rivera 2 X 12 "Q-Cab" (actually a pair of them) and I like 'em fine.
I think they sound much better than the ada's even with the same speakers
installed. The ADA's are significantly cheaper though.

	I have heard the 2X12 ENGL cabs, and they sounded really good.
	It's in stereo and has one speaker in closed cab, the other is
	open. I think the closed-cab speaker is the bottom one, and the
	top half is slanted. With this cab, you get the advantages of
	an open cab mixed with the advantages of a closed one (or you
	could say the disadvantages of both! :). The speakers are the
	30 watt Celestion Vintage, and the cab itself is BLAT (Built
	Like A Tank).

	In fact, I'm dreaming of a stereo-setup with two of these cabs,
	each driven by a Marshall JCM900 50W Dual Reverb head...

    If you really mean stereo, as the note of this thing indicates, it
    seems to me you wouldn't get a very good stereo image from an
    over/under style cab (with each speaker putting out one side). I'd
    think that two seperate cabs or a side/side split stereo cab would be
    more effective.

	Yeah, I have also been wondering about the use of these cabs -
	perhaps, they are designed so you can use one amp for the closed
	cab and another for the open one, adjusting each amp for an op-
	timum..?

	re. the idea of tilting one's head - perhaps it's easier to tilt
	the cab itself..:)

2925.6ADA Stackable 12'sNEST::CURRYFri May 13 1994 15:016
    Well, how about 2 of those ADA Stackable 12 cabs? They're compact and
    because they're 1x12 cabs they should give a good stereo sound. They
    seem to be reasonably priced, as well.....

    Any opinions?
