2582.0. "Identify this Logo" by XSTACY::PATTISON (A rolling stone gets the worm) Tue Sep 01 1992 13:02

I just came into possession of my very first (very cheap, very third-hand)
   bass guitar.

There's nothing on it to identify the makers name, save for a metal
plate with a logo inscribed. Can anyone identify it?

Its bass-ically the letter "X" in a circle.

That's the international symbol for a closed runway...not very
    promising...

Maybe if you give us some more clues, like shape of body, number of
pickups, number and type of controls, string count, headstock shape,
tuning machine manufacturer, etc., we can come up with a better guess.

It may also be the international sign for Hondo guitars. Just a guess.

Ah.. well that "X" could pass as an "H"...

If you're in the UK, that might be a Hayman bass. Although I recall
they usually had the name emblazoned on the body somewhere...

I saw a Hondo guitar in a music store recently and the logo on the
headstock fit the description in .0.
