Pre-1960 Guild F-holed 6-string orchestra guitar (Model X50, I believe). Called
Guild to get more info on it, but their records didn't go back that far. It's in

In addition to the two items listed in the base note, I still have:

A six string solid Gibson steel guitar, circa about 1950.
A Harmony mandolin purchased from Sears late 1940's.
A Vega tenor banjo at least 45 years old.

A Masco reel to reel tape recorder bought in 1953. It also has a built
in AM radio. We used to record shows on this and the local radio
    stations would play the tapes.

My first musical equipment was a Rex solid steel guitar and a noname
    three tube amplifier.

I still laugh/cringe about my first lead guitar. It was Sear's best
Kay model. A beautiful blonde archtop with lots of ivory. We were
loading the gear into the trunk of my car preparing for a gig. Forgot
to put the guitar in and backed right over it. Collected on the car
    insurance but I was devastated.

RE:.15: 1939 Martin D-28 (been played - lots - but a cannon)

'39 may be the best year for Martin guitars. Everything but the low end was
Brazillian rosewood. All guitars were using the "advanced" bracing (something
they only did for a couple of years) that resulted in guitars with big voices.
Diamond and squares inlay and herringbone trim for D-28s and Snowflake inlay
and the abalone inlay on all the edges for D-45's - all with elephant ivory
nuts and saddles - as *standard* equipment. Not a bad ax. Wish I had one.

Okay - I'll play.

My most valued treasures are (In order of slobber-ness):

1. Ibanez RG550, "Road Flare Red" that I snarfed from our own Bill
    Buckley.

2. My Mp1 and SP1000.

3. Gallien Krueger 250ML that I bought new a LONG time ago, and used
it for a long time before MIDI Rack Puke-dom set in. A fine amp.

4. The little Fender Champs that I got in a package deal with an old
Gibson. Those things cranked for little buggers.

5. My father-in-laws black-faced twin that I will someday inherit... :)

6. " " Gibson L7 (Circa 1942) that I will also inherit... :)

7. My old Ibanez Artist AR500 that got ripped off in shipment to my
    ship in the Navy.

8. My old Ovation Beater (Custom Baladeer) that I snarfed from a drunken
Marine who needed liberty money. (Which Charlie Hall now owns :)

Went to McDuff's on my lunch hour the other day. There's an
"old treasure" in there. I saw an old ES335-like Silvertone
something or other. Had a god-awful big tremelo arm with a huge
    spring on it.

Was really a nice looking guitar though. I picked it up and it
played pretty nice too. Only $139.

Not that I have any of this stuff, but the oldest stuff I *had* was
this early 70s SG/Les Paul thing (ala Clapton). This dude who was WAY
into Creme sold me the axe, a 50wt Marshall 2x12 combo, and a Big Muff
Pi box so I could sound like Clapton. He actually gavce me the fresh
creme album in the deal (he wanted to convert me), but my head was
elsewhere...I bought the rig cuz it was the former rig of Ace Frehley
from KISS. I traded someone the Creme lp for a KISS album! 8^)

I had, thank god it's gone, a 1975 MSA E9 pedal steel. Sold
it last year. The company went chapter 11 in the early 80's so there
was no way to get parts. I got tired of carving them out of blocks
of aluminum. Got myself a "classic" Emmons twin neck now.

My ol' Selmar Treble and Bass 50 head (I assume you States guys used to see
    these amps).

It's 1963 and boy has it lived....it hit many blues and rock clubs
around London with me years ago, I've had it since about '76.

It's old and retired now (no channel switching, reverb, EQ or other
essentials for todays guitarist) but every now and then I warm it up and
    have a blast.

I just can't bear to part with it and its pretty cloth front!! Too

Started playing at the age of 13, and went out and bought myself,
a small "FENDER HARVARD" amplifier which I believe has 'bout 35 Watts?
It has a 10" speaker and the TWEED type of exterior.
A great little amp and consider it to be priceless!
Tried getting new tubes for it a few years ago with no success!
Think I'll keep it for life and pass it on.........

                                                                    STORM'N

Hey Norm - did that amp use 6SN7 preamp tubes? Neal Orsi knows
	how to get 'em.

Groove Tubes makes adapters for running 12AT7s in sockets for
	6SN7 and 6SJ7s.
2513.53re .51RANGER::WEBERFri May 28 1993 11:0110
Norm, your Harvard is older than you think, since these were only made
    until 1960 or so.

All the tubes should be readily available, except for the 6AT6, which
    is probably non-existent ;-)

I'd be really surprised if a Harvard could put out 35 watts--probably
more like 20, but it's still a great little amp.
