2332.0. "Swapping Anyone?" by JENEVR::SAKELARIS () Tue Sep 24 1991 23:42

I just had an idea. What do you think about this? I'm thinking I'd like
to try a Marshall, or a Boogie, but I'm not really in the market to buy
one. And I'm thinking that maybe one of youse guise who have a Marshall
or a Boogie might similarly like to try out a Fender "the Twin", say for a
week or so. Or whatever, maybe even guitars, what the hell. I'm
thinking that I might not have a problem swapping for a week or so to
someone I think I can trust.

Obviously there's some risk here, and we'd have to be cautious. But who
else among us might be willing to swap peices of relatively equal value
for a brief trial period? Now, I don't just mean with me, some of you
all "would never touch Fender". But in concept, what are some thoughts
about how this could be arranged? Would anybody else be interested in
participating in this type of a thing?

Crissakes, given the lack of response to this, either my Twin has got
some disease (ewwww yuck, its a Fender), or the pervasive attitude is
"No way, no one ain't touchin' my amp...I freakin ki ya's."

Well dog, boys. It doesn't have to be an amp, and it doesn't have to be
anything I've got. I was just thinking that maybe someone would
swap their whatever for whatever for a couple of days. So what the
hell, if its just lyin there, like some old stomp box, put an ad in
    here and see whats what.

Or if you hate the idea, say so.

See, I'm remembering a few years ago I was looking for a bass. Well
doggone it, there I was sittin in Daddy's thumpin away on one. It
looked nice, played nice, and sounded nice in the store. But in the
band setting, it was a totally different axe. Woulda been nice to know
that before I bought the damn thing. Or then there's this thing about
Marshalls. I can't stand 'em in the store, but I gotta agree that i
never heard one on stage or on record that sounded like what I became
so biased against at the store. Or with Boogies, I like the way they
sound, but I tell everyone who asks to look into a Fender if for no
other reason than you get the same quality, and more amp for much less
buckage. But see, I've hardly played a Boogie, so really what in the
    hell do I know?

For me, right now I'd just like to sleep with another unit, I don't
wanna marry it. I need a little strange I guess. Anybody else?

I hear ya Sakman! I'd probably be interested, since I really like to
try new things and I believe that a test drive in a music store doesn't
do an amp justice. However, it's impractical for me since I live in
    Colorado. Sorry dude!

Well, Greg and I had sorta discussed this once (remember ?).

I'd be up for swapping my 2550 for your 900 for a few rehearsals
if your up fer it....

No doubt about it - music stores aren't the place to test drive.
