| I just finished looking for one and visited a number of the Boston/Worcestor
area music stores in the process, so it's still sort of fresh in my mind.
Most of the stores I went to were asking around $600 and up for the Amer. Std.
Many of those were used but in excellent condition. The local Want Ad magazine
has been listing them for $350 to $450, sometimes higher. The one I finally
bought was a used 1988 Amer. Std. in excellent condition for $375. Found it
in the Want Ad. Great place to look.
If your friend lives near the Boston area, he might want to check out Mr. Music
in Allston. They had the best supply and there were a few older ones in there
they were asking $500 for. Gordon's Music in Worcestor had a 1983 Strat for
$350 that might still be available. Not quite an Amer. Std. and the color was
sort of a blah off-white, but it had a nice sound to it.

| Thanks Bob.
This guitar is for one of my managers sons (16) and he want's
new, etc.etc.etc.. I've not been in the buying market for a few years,
so I'm not sure what current prices were...
I suggested to check both used, (I use Want adds quite a bit for both
buying and selling) but the kid wants a new one,, you know how kids are..
and I also suggested Mail Order - then you can really put yer helment on..
(that's where I got mine,, M.O. -Red American Stndn,
$325 with case if you can believe it!!! but that was three years ago.
I aint stopped chucklin when I walk into music stores since..)
but that will prbably be another unheaded peice of advice..
So, I already quoted about $500 or $600 for yer basic axe..
jess double checkin...
