2183.0. "Any recommendations for good instructors in the Lowell/Lawrence MA area" by CLOSET::KENSEI::J_DORE () Mon Apr 29 1991 16:08

This notefile is such a tremendous source of info. Perhaps some participants
could help me a bit.

I have been studying guitar / playing on my own for a few years now. I enjoy
it so much that I think it is time for some formal training. So it is time to
find an instructor. But where do I start? Well, for my money, the best way
to find a good teacher is to ask around. So, I am asking.

Do you know a good guitar teacher that you would recommend.
I am most interested in Jazz. I would also like to try my hand at
Classical. I live in Methuen, MA and work in Nashua, NH.

Send me mail if you would prefer not to post such a recommendation in a
public notefile.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
JSD

I'm in the same position -been playin' a couple of years or so and
want to find a good teacher. My first teacher was a big 'ol schmo...
I asked him to teach me Def Leppard's "Rock of Ages" and he told me
    he didn't know gospel!
Well anyway, maybe you could try looking around at any local music
stores. They might charge a little more though, I'm not really sure
(they do back in Ohio!), or I think there's a note somewhere arounds
    here about gettin' a teacher...

                                       Just rambling on,
                                                trickey

I know of 2 in the Lowell area. One may be retired by now, but I think
the other one is still teaching. I'll see if I can find out how to get
in touch with them and let you know, probably by mail.

2183.3Eric Kluck, Ciara MusicCUPMK::DUBEDan Dube 264-0506Mon May 06 1991 15:3610
In my opinion (and I've said it a couple times before in this notes
file, I think), the best guitar teacher in that area is Eric Kluck. He
teaches at Ciara Music, on Rt. 28 in Lawrence (right next door to
Methuen).

The number is 508-794-0110.

Call him - you won't regret it. (db will back me up on this one, too.)

Of the 2 I mentioned in .2, one I have no idea of how to get in touch
with (and he's probably retired from teaching), and the other os a
    professor in Florida.

Howdy,

I'm looking for a decent instructor, preferably a left-handed guitar player,
in the Acton/Maynard area. I just started playing about 2 months ago. I'm
interested in the blues and the grateful dead style of music (certainly they
deserve to be classified by themselves).

Send me mail or reply here with information or tips.

JC

There's a guy named Sam Davis who teaches all kinds of guitar.
He lives/teaches in Cambridge. He's been playing all his life
and teaching for over 15 years. He LOVES to teach and is truly
amazing (teaching and playing). Can't say enough good things about him.

His number is 617-497-0830. Call him anytime.
