2138.0. "Gimme Songs - Easy stuff to throw together quick" by GSRC::COOPER (Major MIDI Rack Puke (tm)) Tue Mar 12 1991 18:54

Every band I've ever been in has a bunch of songs I'd call
"Gimme's". Ergo, songs that everyone seems to know, or
at least can pick right up on... The kind of songs that immediately
catch the audiences ear and we (musicians) chuckle at how little
    work went into it ??

How about discussing our favorites ??

    Here's some:

Change In My Pocket - Georgia Sattelites
    Cocaine - Clapton
    Three Steps - Skynyrd
Feel Like Makin' Love - Bad Co.
    Simple Man - Skynyrd

    Y'all got some more ??

Yeah,,, We used ta really dig playin that tune. it was a great second
set opener... Soloing in that tune, golly, I could do no wrong. Great groove
throughout the whole thing. A few tres-cool key changes.... You should
work those boys over Coop.. Sounds pissa rocked up a little bit.

A couple-a-more just came to mind too...

	Houses of the Holy
	Badge
	Cross town traffic
Bonny Marony, just play it with the amps on 10.. (Like J.D.Winter Does)

and speaking of Bad Co.

	Good lovin gone bad
	Young blood.

and if you're looking for a few mo-town type tunes to add a little spice to.
Try

	Aint that Peculair
	Back in my Arms again.

Sound great id ya take the basic idea and rough em up a bit.

Completely off the topic, but the solo in this song is real close to my

    interesting :)!

    re: .-1

"Point it Up" is definitely my favorite Larry Carlton solo. Well...
actually, I also love "It Was Only Yesterday" which is the complete
opposite end of the spectrum (a slow tune).

Actually, it's hard for me to think of any other solo, including Steve
Morse that I love as much as PIU so it may be my all-time favorite as
    well.

However, anyone who's been to a LC concert knows that it's the ONE
song he REFUSES to play. I think he regards it as just flashy even
    though no one else does.
