Was it available for purchase? Was it a homebrew or something put out by
Marshall (or someone else)? How much? How can I contact them?

re .6 Larry, Since when are you using Marshall ? What happened to
    the Roland JC ?

I know you had/have a Marshall cab you were using with your GK250RL,
but didn't know you went to a JCM800 head.

We've got to start keepin' in touch.

Leave it to Mr. C to come up with this poster. He knows us guitar dudes

I'd like a copy too.

A co-worker and I were cracking up over that poster yesterday. We thought of
all sorts of possibilites with that line. You can substitute the Marshall and
Peavey companies with just about any name ;-)

DEC - IBM
DEC - SUN
Ibanez - Charvel ;-)

You get the idea...

1807.19I don't understandCOOKIE::G_HOUSEClaimin'Wed May 02 1990 23:2226
Bill,

Why do you and others keep blasting Kitty Hawks? Are you joking around
with us or what? I don't mean to sound like I'm upset or anything, I
could really care less what you think of the amps, but it seems like
you (and others) are demeaning them with no rational reason for this.
If it's a joke, that's cool (some of the others clearly weren't).

Of the instances of bad tubes, two of the three of them were probably
because the tube bias switch was set in the wrong position. That's
hardly the amps fault (could conceivably be viewed as the person who
set it up's fault). There were clear cautions in here to check that
and be sure to reseat all the tubes before firing the things up.

They were great deals, even if you figure the cost of a whole new set
of tubes (about $120 for an M3) into the price of the amps, we still
got them at a substantial discount.

I have had no problems with mine whatsoever and it sounds great. I
originally bought it because it was inexpensive, figuring I'd use it
as a backup amp in case I had problems with one of the others, but it
sounds so good I've relegated the others to backup duty.

Just trying to figure out where you're coming from...

Greg
1807.20still a great deal for those involved; the rest are jealous!UPWARD::HEISEROh I hate it when I do thisWed May 02 1990 23:2811
To put this in perspective, there were around 40 DEC Kitty Hawk
purchases, right? The few that had problems were mainly traced to
operator errors. There might have been 1 or 2 that wwere completely
unsatisfied and sent their gear back to LPMG.

It seemed like more because we're in a closed environment here and the
few that had problems were very vocal.

I'd be willing to bet that the Kitty success rate was > 90%.

    Mike
1807.21ASAHI::SCARYI'm noting, and I can't log out !Thu May 03 1990 03:1712
Agreed .... my Kitty M3 ended up toasting a tube, possibly because I
used it for 2 months with the bias switch in the wrong position,
possibly because the tubes were junk. But, after replacing the tubes
and setting the switch properly, my problems disappeared. If it was to
vaporize tomorrow, I still feel like my $200 was money WELL spent.

But I can understand the NON-Kitty owners being a little gunshy about
these products. All they hear is the bad news, which travels 17 times
the speed of light (which is *amlost* the speed of a rumor ...8^).
They don't hear much about the success stories.

    Scary

I have nothing against kitties....or you guys for that matter
but crackin' on peavey will get you that kind of response.....
There is NOTHING wrong with their gear either if you buy the
right one for the job!!!!!Don't expect a little bitty P.V.
combo to hold up doing the job you need a full 100 watt stack for!
And as for you Yahoos who like calling "Ibanez" "Ibeenhad".......
You'll have to see the picture I'll be sending in to the 'Book!!!!
The stuff you use, enjoy, work with is all a very personal choice..
WTF do you care what I think of your equipment anyway?????? I'm
satisfied with all my stuff -because if I wasn't I wouldn't have
it anymore....I just think it's wrong to sell the more plain less
exotic type stuff short. It works and works hard and not everyone
in the world is ready or willing to buy a rack or a huge stack or
a boogie or anything else for that matter so why keep telling them
all that the plain old RELIABLE no frills stuff isn't good????????
-I'm picking on your Holy Grail (Kittys) to breask chops......it
seems I do a fair job of it too!!
But seriously I think some of us do a big disservice to those of
us in the market for something not too expensive by comparing it
with something that you SERIOUS (snicker-snicker) musicians went
out and bought that isn't and wasn't intended to do the same job!

anyway, sorry to offend some of you but then again;tough toenails!!

Ibeenhad,,, I kinda like that.

However, I've got an MC400 (crica 78) that'll shred anything put up
against it.

So, generalizations are a mistake boys and girls.

<< MC400s Roooool! I'd buy one in a second if I could!!

Yo Buck! Absolute, bawls delux.....

There fairly hard to come by today. Mr. C's had a prototype on display a few
years back,, this one had a different combo of colors.. The sandwhich
in the body was blonde with the mahogony top, unlike the production line
models where the sandwhich was a dark-dark (almost black) stain.

I've gone through lots of axes,, Lps, SGs, a few strats, (gotta have a strat
tho..) teles,,, this one will never be sold.. Unless I'm six feet under and my
wife needs the dough,, then I'll still kill her,

Ibanez don't make em like that anymore..

But Buck, listen up, if your serious...

My brother in-law has a blonde one... It needs some work (neck/frets.. all
minor) and as I recall it could also use some very minor cosmetic touch
up too, like right around where the input jack is. The finsh got cracked,
a good guy (like Macduff) could set it to right no prob.

Actuall it's the MC500 which is the same axe (as the MC400) but with the
turtle top. (you know like a paul..) Nice lookin ax.. Active pickups,,,

damn near nuclear ,,,

he may be inclinde to unload it.. He bought after using mine, now he's
pretty much out of the playing,, just runs sound... So he'd turn it
around for an acoustic if he could sell it...

Buzz me on the next pigeon out if you want to take a look sometime.
