1747.0. "Guitar Slang Note" by SMURF::BENNETT (Pull Claim Blend? Say What?) Fri Mar 23 1990 19:43

	Slang discussion ensued.

	John Kelly got me going.

Can we have a definition of 'grease' - the kind you need to
	play the blues?

Charlie playing the blues grease or not.

How about a couple from Billy Gibbons:

(on pinch harmonics) "Graze that twine and make it whine."

                          "Spank the plank."

"Flailing" - where you whip into a frenzied lead, impress everyone
including yourself, have no idea how you just did that (but it sounded
good), and then you realize you couldn't do that again if you had
a hundred tries under the best conditions.
"Flubbing" - same as the above, but it didn't sound good at all,
no one is impressed, and as a matter of fact they did notice it!

These aren't exactly slang, but musical mneumonics. These 3 I know,
    are there anymore?

If Dora Plays Like Me Alls Lost - used to memorize all the modes for
                                      scales. Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian,
                                      Lydian, Myxolodian, Aeolian, Locrian

Empty Garbage Before Dad Flips - used to signify the notes that fall
on the lines in the musical staff.
                                      E - G - B - D - F

FACE - is a mneumonic for the notes that fall on the spaces in the
           musical staff.

Ok I guess this is the best place to ask, although it confirms my
ignorance...scuse me. But what in hell do these symbols like 8^) or
of the abreviations that you guys use mean. I figured out IMO as Im My
Opinion, or BTW as By The Way. Looking thru the notes, there's a bunch
of 'em, symbols, acronyms, and mneumonics. Unless it's a secret code
for some fellowship or order, would someone who knows and uses them
    clue me in?
