    Guess what 83249702 means...

It means I've just picked up my Les Paul... 8^)

By looking at the serial # I recon that my guitar was build on
the 324th day of 1989... 20th Nov 1989. I also think that the neck
was the second on made that day... but I can't figure what the 7
    means... any ideas!

Danny, aren't you the Gibson expert ?

Seems that you had a book on Gibson serial numbers...
DO I have some corrupt pages in my memory ?

1652.2close, but...RAINBO::WEBERWed Jan 24 1990 18:4311
Gibson has generally used serial #'s between XXXXX500 and XXXXX999 for
guitars made in Nashville. Unless they have changed recently, your
guitar was the 202 made that day. If they have changed recently, yours
is the 702 one made that day. I'd go with 202.

re: -.1 Some of us have day gigs ;-)

But... but what about some older L.P. Customs?

    How about a s/n of 619837 ????

    1969? 1972? I dunno? Any guesses?

619837 is from the early '70's. A description of features would help.
This series of numbers was used more than once, so it is difficult to
pin the year without knowing more about the guitar.

I'm getting tired of repeating all the different things to look for,
but if you find the other Les Paul and Gibson topics, you can figure it
    out yourself.
