It's a sad day for Guitarists the world out. Allen Collins of Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Rossington-Collins Band passed away yesterday in Florida. He was 36. Details were unavailable. All I know is that Skynyrd is responsible for an aweful lot of personal happiness for me, and I learned a lot about the guitar by listening to Collins' work. I'm positive I'm not the only one. He'll be missed for sure. jc

Heard on the radio this morning that the cause of death was respiratory failure due to complications from pnuemonia. He'd been in the hospital since Friday. A sad day. -- Sam

This is really quite sad. Seems that Lynyrd Skynryd has been pretty ill fated... I was just listening to the live album yesterday. Greg

I'm sorry to learn about Collins, too. Skynyrd was responsible for some great guitar music and some pretty sassy vocals, too. Oddly enough, yesterday [Jan. 23] was the 12th anniversary of Chicago founder/lead guitarist Terry Kath's suicide. Brian |
