1641.0. "Help-chord sequences!" by CRISTA::MAYNARD (BAREFOOT IN THE HEAD) Wed Jan 17 1990 15:44

In the song "Nature Boy" ( George Benson did a remake of the
Nat Cole song) what is the chord sequence between the
Em and the B7- it goes with the line " they say he wandered
very far..." and resolves at the B7

Also, anybody know the chord sequence to the Rolling Stones
    "Lady Jane"?

    					Thanks

Well, I tried this at home last night and unfortunately it doesn't
    work.
The closest I can seem to get is:
    Dm Dbm7 Cm7 Bm7 Bbm7 A7
    A7 E7 A7 Dm

    Any ideas?

Hmmm... It works when we play melody and changes together.

The chord sequence Dm Dm7/maj7 Dm7 Dm6, moves chromatically.
If I can remember, I'll bring the whole score in and enter the
    changes here.

Mr Davia's chords should be fine, as long as you put them in the right
place. The Dm with the descending note should continue to the the word
"sea", at which point play the Gm6, Em7b5 and resolve that to an A7.

This is the type of song with hundreds of possible substitute
progressions, but it can certainly be played with just the four chords
    shown.

1641.5Nat Cole by a diffenent name??POBOX::DAVIADrinkin' mash, talkin' trashThu Jan 18 1990 17:338

You know, now that were on the subject... Most people I talk jazz
with associate this tune with Nat Cole, yet the score cites the
author as Ebben Abbez (sp??). Who is this cat (presuming I spelled
    the name correctly).

Cole popularized the tune, which was written for a movie. He didn't
    write it.

Tunes are often associated with the popularizer, rather than the
author even when the author is a performer. Some other examples: Cole &
"The Christmas Song", Benson & "This Masquerade", even Bette Midler
    and "Wind beneath...".

Back to Nature Boy. Another progression that fits is to play four beats
of Dm, two of Em7b5 and two of A7 instead of the descending Dm line.
This is a latin-sounding minor progression that is very common
in Bossa Nova. Play a Gm6 on the word "land" and Em7b5 to A7 on "sea".

For the next part, put an E7b5 in place of the Em before ending the verse.

Thanks to all for the input- that Em7b5 was the key to the whole
    puzzle.

As long as I'm on a roll- does anyone know the chord sequence to
Laugh Laugh by the Beau Brummels?

Yeah, I've got the whole thing sequenced and can write 'em down later
if you don't already have them...
