I have a magazine article from 1985 when hofner issued a
"Super Beatle" bass. The company that imports Hofner is/was:

    	Multivox
    	370 Motor Parkway.
    	Hauppauge, NY 11788

All I can say that in Europe, Hofner guitar were a very popular
brand, due to the complete lack of American Guitars avaliable throught
    the late 50's earley 60's.

Most Hofner output was of the semi-solid type. These guitars, being
built in highish numbers are not so rare in europe, though I do
not know the stateside situation. They were built of good woods,
    and generally tend to last.

Hofner ran into trouble when the avaliability of US guitars picked
up, although they still do make guitars, apparently.

Like I said, they are not rare, and although the "Vintage Hysteria"
has raised prices, do not expect to pay much for one. The only
collectable Hofner, is the (you guessed it) 6 string "Beatle Bass"
that could set you back the price of a new Les Paul. For other's,
they actually make a nice, interesting guitar to own instead of
a Hondo or similar Korean job (Now who is complaining about imports
    eh?) for the same cash.

This is all I know off the top of my head, except Marty Wilde and
    Bert Weedon both used them.

ps I hope you were not hoping to sell one and make a killing!
