1394.0. "Mic line level convertors" by PNO::HEISER (Monday's Child was feeling blue...) Mon Jul 24 1989 18:46

Does anyone have any experience with mic line level convertors?
What brands, models (with cost$) are you familiar with?

I've been told that I shouldn't plug an acoustic straight into
a mixer by the manufacturer (Tangent). It looks like I need a line
convertor so I don't damage the channel.

What you need is a direct box, converts high impedance 1/4" to low
impedance XLR. Some have useful features like ground lifts,
attenuators and low/high cut filters. Cheap ones start around $25,
and prices climb up into the $200 range. DOD, Boss, Whirlwind,
InLine Audio, Countryman are a few brands.
