1215.0. "Alvarez Regency Information" by RAVEN1::JERRYWHITE (The Cover KING !!!) Sat Mar 18 1989 05:41

I recently purchased an "Alvarez Regency" acoustic guitar, got it
for $50 and it's in mint condition. My question is this ... how
much is it really worth ? It has what appears to be a repair quote
written on the warranty card with a figure of $139 beside it. I
don't know if this was the new selling price in 1986 (date of the
quote ..) or if this was the repair amount. The guitar has a truss
rod in the neck as well as an adjustable bridge. The headstock
doesn't have the real fancy "Alvarez" logo, instead it has "Alvarez"
in large script with "Regency" in smaller script below. I know
next to nothing when it comes to acoustic guitars but I know this
was a good deal, it has great action !

I don't know about the Regency, but my Yari list for $700, I paid
$375.00. Sounds like you did get a good deal for $50.
A cigar box and broom stick guitar would cost that much today.

I checked it out at a local music store and they list for $319 without
the case, yeah I did alright ... but I also have a feeling if the
true origin of the axe were known I'd probably need asbestos gloves
    to play it !

This looks like the place for ....

I was looking for a nylon string classical guitar with a cutaway and...

I recently played a Alvarez CY127E. This is a thin bodied, electric
acoustic, nylon string guitar. Does anybody know of :

    	1) a mail order source that deals Alvarez (Mandolin Bros. is way
too high, 10% off MLP, thanks guys)
    	2) Other Nylon string guitars with cutaway that might cost less
    	   than $700.

I would love to have traded my Ovation Elite for the one I played in
Chicago (~650.00), but the guy wasn't interested in my Ovation.
(seems to me that used Ovations are not in great demand :-| )

Anyhow, any suggestions are always appreciated.

Is anyone here familiar with the Alvarez Regent (or is it Regency?)
model D22C? The "C" stands for cutaway. Got any idea of normal
selling price? There's a guy locally selling one for $190 (with
    chip-board case).

    Dan,

Seems like Jerry White has one. I remember playing it, and it
was nice; typically Alvarez. Still got it Scary ?

I've long since sold it (bad move ...), but I can't remember if I ever
knew what the model number was ...

I do know that the Regency line is the lower end - but it's still nice,
and I thing all of the Regencys list for around $250 without a case.

Scary (who wishes he could pull that deal back like a yo-yo ...)
