1128.0. "Band Banners" by SPGOGO::DADDIECO () Mon Feb 06 1989 12:56

    I'm looking for someone who can produce a "banner." You know, the
    kind of banner you see drapped behind bands when they are on stage.

    Anybody know where to go for such a product? Is there anyone out
    there that does this sort of thing as a hobby or otherwise?

    Sure would appreciate some input.

    Thanx ..... Dan (for SAVYY)

         We went to a fabric shop bought two long strips and sewed them
    together. The drummers grandmother, added the holes so we could
    hang it. I don't remember what it ending up cosing us, but I know
    it was less than a hundred bucks. We also had one made for the
    drum riser. I have seen some bands that don't sew the cloth together
    and just duck tape it to the wall, (sounds tacky, but it works).

1128.2More banner banter...SCUBBA::KARRFALTHow many songs on a 6 month CD?...?Tue Feb 07 1989 10:2012

    	Duck tape is no good - it quacks when it gets cold! (I couldn't
    resist - the proper spelling is DUCT TAPE).

    	The drummer in by band is our resident graphics artist. He
    used something called a paint pen to do our banner. So far, it
    has lasted 2 years and several washings (something to consider since
    most clubs don't have a smoking policy such as DEC) without any
    visible fading. Also, the walls in Chinese resturants tend to be
    very greasy (this is the voice of experience).

      Banners look good, on your wall at home, but not all clubs
    have stages set up to hang your banner evenly, example, corner
    stages. We invested in a sign that lights up with the bands name
    on it, this works better because the best place may not always
    be where your name is painted on your back-drop. We still have
    a solid black back-drop for the light show, and the sign can
    go any where. Even though our sign was a little more than most
    bands would want to spend ($500) I have seen bands with cheaper
    ones that look good.

    Dan,

    There's an ad in the current issue of the Phoenix for just
    this kind of service.
