1082.0. "SR&D Rockman RP-100 Portable Amplifier" by AQUA::ROST (Jazz isn't dead, it just smells funny) Thu Jan 19 1989 11:01

Two new Scholz products are out:

    1. SMART GATE
This is the noise gate from the Sustainor in a separate box, the
usual Rockmodule half-rack size. Two controls, a variable threshold
and a three-position bandwidth switch. It apparently combines the
functions of a noise gate with those of a dynamic hiss filter (ala
Hush). Price is only $99 list, and it's AC powered!!!

    2. ROCKMAN RP-100
Imagine taking all the Rockmodules, adding programmability of all
controls, toss in a MIDI interface, connect to a 100 watt stereo
(probably 50 X 2) amp and cram all this plus speakers into a ghetto
blaster. Now allow the thing to be split into two pieces, a master
unit (with the front end controls, one channel of amplification
and one speaker) and a slave (just amp and speaker) or connect together
    for carrying.

Price (sit down please) $1098, list.

The ads didn't give much more in the way of technical details.
I expect the RP-100 to be an *extremely* hot unit...following ion
the footsteps of the little GK amps, I think we are going to see
more and more down-sized amps in the future.

Has anyone seen any of these new Scholz toys yet? SR&D may design
neat products and have great ads but where the heck are they hiding
    their production units?

I'm real interested in the Smart Gate. That sounds like
    a good deal.

As far as the rest of his stuff, I bet most music stores
aren't willing to stock his stuff 'cause they don't think
    it will sell.

I OWN A ROCKMAN XP 100 STEREO,MIDI PROGRAMABLE PORTABLE GUITAR
AMPLIFIER TO WHICH I ADDED 2 DOUBLE 12 INCH SPEAKER CABINETS FOR AN
AWSOME MONSTROSIOUS STEREO GUITAR SOUND.I LIKE THIS AMP MORE THAN ANY
OTHER AMP ON THE MARKET RIGHT NOW. IT HAS KILLER DISTORTION.SUPER CLEAN
CLEAN SOUND,ECHO,CHORUS,COMPRESSION AND IT IS EXTREMELY LOUD IF YOU
NEED IT TO BE.THE SPEAKERS THAT ARE BUILT IN TO THE AMP SOUND GREAT AS
LONG AS THERE IS NOT TOO MUCH BASS CRANKED UP TOO LOUD.BY THE WAY,I
BOUGHT MINE FOR LESS THAN HALF OF RETAIL USED.

    I DON'T

THINK THERE IS SUCH A THING AS A ROCKMAN RP 100
