963.0. "Maxima Gold Strings" by JGO::OPERATOR () Thu Nov 03 1988 10:14

      			MAXIMA GOLDS!
(Not sure if I spelt that correctly)

Has anyone used these gold strings? ; and if so, how do they compare
in sound, playability, price with regular string?

    Hi,

Yes, I've used MAXIMA gold strings (that's the correct spelling).

A friend of mine recommended them so I decided to give them a try.
The first set I purchased was FANTASTIC!! They were expensive ($13.95),
but well worth the money. They seemed to never loose that (new string)
resonant sound. But within the last few months, the company that
produces MAXIMA gold strings (which is located in Germany) changed
the process in which they gold-plate the strings. The last set I
put on my guitar was terrible.. and I went back to MARTIN strings.

Some music stores may still carry the older version of MAXIMA strings,
you can tell just by looking at the package...if the package has
a cowboy on it, buy'em...if not, don't waste your money.

    good luck,

    John

Thanks for the reply! I should have also asked weather they are
designed only for accoustic, electric or both, as I only play the
electric guitar. The fact that you said you've gone back to using
Matain strings has prompted this question!

    Thanks again

As far as I know, you can buy MAXIMA gold strings for any type of
guitar (electric, accoustic, classical etc...). Since I have only used
their accoustic strings, I can't make any judgements on the others.

    Sorry,
    John

I saw an ad in a new guitar mag advertizing their strings for electrics
    just last night.
