| hi Butch,
Most of the time, Fender stamped the date on the inside chassis.
If there is a number within it that is stamped and is not a date,
then you can figure it out by the LAST two digits. Ex: #248361. The
amp would be a 1961 model. Also leopard skin was NOT one of the
fender choices for vinyl coverings in any year. Bandmasters put
out approx. 45watts rms. Bandmasters are not a big seller and have
had their problems, however they have that old world fender sound
that not too many other amps have.
Have fun !!

| I owned at one time a "62" Fender Bandmaster(one of several) which
had dark brown knobs a creme color vinal covering. The control knobs were
in the front of the amp. It also had a presence knob on the far right and
was a piggyback amp. For Power tubes it had 2 5881's which were a predecesor
of the 6l6's used today, preamp tubes were 7025's and the driver tube was a
12ay7. The tubes could tell you the age or if the sticker that Fender
installed listing the tubes and there positon in the amp.
Determining wattage is somewhat subjective even though manufacturers
give a stated RMS figure this is determined by optimum and new amps
and of course math. Depending on the power amp components, there
condition, and design you could see 40 to 60 watts. The age of your power
tubes and phase inverter/driver tube can have a significant affect.
I've seen Bandmaster's go for $75 to $150 depending on age and cond-
ition,my 62 I bought in 1973 for $22.50 (not working) and after some new tubes
and replacing burned wires it fired right up. It got sold or traded some where
along the way. I would hang on to it if I were you they were always
nice reliable amplifiers's when I used them.
