4187.0. "Read .1" by TLE::RMEYERS (Randy Meyers) Wed Oct 10 1990 21:28

Subj:	All DEC employees need to vote!!!

The DECwindows Office needs to get out the vote!!! SUN is trying to
embarass us by having OPEN LOOK win the Digital Review 1991 Target Award
for user interface.

We need to conteract this with the 120,000 DEC votes that we can cast.

If Motif is also on the ballot we should vote for that. If not, we
should vote for some other good canidate.

It is pretty bad when it comes to this, but SUN has drawn the line, and
DEC has to cross it. I find it hard to believe that OPEN LOOK has made
the most contributions to a DEC or DEC-compatible marketplace.

==========================Internal SUN Document, headers removed=========

Please cast your vote!

OPEN LOOK was nominated by Digital Review readers for
a 1991 Target Award in the user interface category.
This is a nice compliment for OPEN LOOK since DR's readership
is predominately made up of DEC users.

Target Awards honor products that have made the most
significant contributions to the DEC and DEC-compatible
marketplace during the past year (Oct. 1 1989 - Nov. 1 1990).

Anyone who reads Digital Review, or who knows of a subscription
that someone nearby receives, please vote. The ballot is in the
October 1 issue of Digital Review and must be postmarked by
October 15. No faxes or copies will not be accepted.

Because OPEN LOOK made it to the finalists (sounds like a
beauty contest, eh?), it will be displayed at DEXPO West
in Las Vegas, Dec. 11 - 13. Winners will be announced at
a formal awards ceremony in Las Vegas, Dec. 11.

Thanks,

What's .0 doing in the Amiga conference you may ask? Have a hard time
working up the motivation to hunt down a copy so that you can vote for
DECwindows?

Well, in the category of Target Award for best personal computer, you
can check off the Amiga 3000 box. This is the first time I've seen
the Amiga appear in this type of questionnaire/ballot.
