4175.0. "AntiFlicker Program" by MSVAX::BARRETT (I must not waste diskspace) Fri Oct 05 1990 04:16

Recently, several local BBS's have been posting an archive called
AntiFlicker. The original of this came from CompuServe and contained
the program, docs, source, and fonts. The only ones on BBS's I've
seen are missing the source and fonts -- although the missing fonts
can be "trumped" up by other sources.

This program greatly reduces interlace WB flicker by modifying the
    structures/colors/fonts to anti-alias everything (i.E. causes the
oposing colors to blend rather than flicker). The result is
impressive (it's no FlickerFixer, but it may hold me until I get
one), but it ONLY works on a 2 or 4 color workbench.

I'd like to get this working for 8 color WB, or at least choose
a better color scheme to go with my desired settings.

Can anyone do this, or post the correct archive that includes the fonts
& source to TAPE:: so I can give it a shot, or provide an EMAIL address for
    the author, Nicolas Benczan?

Thanks! Let's reserve this note for this program in general if it
gets uploaded and is found to be useful.

Would somebody be so kind as to upload it anyway. I would like to take a look
at it as well.

Thanks,
Chris

Well, what's the name of the archive. Maybe we can FTP it...

I can upload the copy I have, which contains the running image and
docs, but is missing the font files and source. It works, but is
incomplete. The archive I have is called ANTIFLICKER.LZH

4175.6Has anyone got an antiflicker setup they like?GALAXY::ROBINSONMon Oct 22 1990 14:5711
Has anybdy put this AntiFlicker program through the paces? I put it
in my C: directory and set up the line runback antiflicker -c
near the beginning of my startup sequence. I can tell that it blurs
my fonts a bit but it also kills the colors in my nice animated boing ball
pointer. I can explore using different fonts and different placements
in the startup-sequence file, but if someone already has done this
with or without success, please offer your advice. The documentation
is slim.

Thanks,
Dave

I tried using this without much success. I didn't have the fonts that the docs
mentioned but I tried it with the Pearl font. It seemed worse to me.

The docs said to change the colors to low contrast type colors. But each time
you change the colors, you do it blindly since antiflicker does something that
won't let you change them on the fly anymore (you have to reboot to see the
new colors).

I got frustrated and gave up.

I too would be interested if somebody got this to work.

I feel the same way. Perhaps someone can locate the "real" archive
that is suppose to contain the source and fonts also?
