3828.0. "Flicker fix/rid cable?" by POLAR::GOSLING () Wed Jun 06 1990 14:19

       I have seen references in both AW and AC of a Canadian company
       selling a 'flicker fix' cable at ~$40, that when used in
       conjunction with a TTL (I think that's the acronym) monitor
       eliminates flicker in interlace mode.

       What are TTL monitors? What are the brands that one would
       recognize? What is their usual cost? Does DEC make/sell any that
       could be bought through an Employee Purchase Plan?

       Thanks

    Warning: off the top of my head BS coming:

    TTL - transistor-transistor  logic.
    TTL terminal: digital terminal. Can only display like 16 colors.

    		TTL monitors use TTL levels to interface to the computer.
    So, you get the 8 primary colors and 8 halfbright versions thereof.
    An EGA monitor would probably work. I don't know if we sell EGA
    monitors with our Tandy PC's or not.

    	This sounds like a solution for text only. Any program that wants
    specific colors isn't going to get them...
3828.3For Hercules monitors.AYOV28::ATHOMSONC'mon, git aff! /The Kelty ClippieFri Jun 08 1990 07:587
    I saw something about this cable recently, it allows you to connect to
    a Hercules monitor (which is yet another PC 'standard'). Interesting,
    though - all the Amstrad (Schneider) PC1640/PC1512 with mono monitors,
    have Hercules graphics (don't know about colour ones.) Which means that
    there are thousands of mono hercules monitors around her in the UK.
