3747.0. "C Manual on TAPE" by WELSWS::FINNIS () Thu May 03 1990 18:10

    Hi Guys,

    	I've decompressed the text bit from Fred Fish #337
    	and uploaded it to tape::user2:[upload]C_manual.book

    	It's not tidy and it has typos but it is readable

    Thanks heaps Pete,

    I'm just getting into C (an old PL1/COBOL freak) and, before I buy
    a compiler, would like see if I can understand the stuff.
    The manual mentions that the examples are in the same directory -
    I couldn't find them, but I would really appreciate just a few to
    speed up things a little. Are there any good samples around?

    Thanks again,

    				Regards,

    The whole manual is on TAPE::

    TAPE::USER2:[AMIGA.FISH.Z300]FF337.ZOO

    However the files ie each directory is in lhz format.

    VMS version of ZOO and LHARC are on WJG::amiga:

    The zoo file uncompresses to 3 Floppys including the Book (already
    uploaded)
    and all the source and executables mentioned in the appendix .

    		Pretty good really

3747.3Add page breaks to C_MANUAL.BOOK?STAR::ROBINSONTue May 15 1990 15:144
Does anyone have a quick hack to add page breaks to this file (C_MANUAL.BOOK).
A TPU procedure would be OK.
Thanks,
Dave
3747.4Thanks againSNOC01::RODDYTue May 15 1990 23:1517

    Thanks again Pete,

    I'll try to decipher the stuff in my lunch break.
    Unfortunately it's impractical for me to download files as it's
    a long distance call for me to log on to our vax so I just
    read the stuff at work (ie I can't use ZOO and LHARC - I wish
    they would keep things simple sometimes).
    As to putting page breaks in the file, I hope you have plenty
    of trees over there. It printed out as about and inch and a half
    of A4 paper and kept the LA210 gyrating for half and hour.

    				Regards,
    						Phil.

    (PS. excuse the long hand - don't know how to put those clever
         little half signs in)

    re: .3
    I made a pass through the book to add page breaks at logical places.
    The resulting file is now at:
                TAPE::USER2:[UPLOAD]C_MANUAL.FORMATTED

Thanks! This notes conference is amazing sometimes.

3747.7Save a TreeWELSWS::FINNISMon May 21 1990 21:3412

    To save paper (and trees)
    print to a lps40 with the following

    print/param=(number_up=2) c_manual.book

    This prints 2 pages per A4 ie A5 size
