3655.0. "Clean up For Sale Note 8.* please!" by CAM::ARENDT (Harry Arendt CAM::) Fri Apr 06 1990 14:25

    Howdy,

    I have a request!

I would like everyone who has a for sale note in 8.* to delete
their reply whenever anything in the reply is sold and then put
a new reply in at the end with what ever is left. This way
when I do a DIR 8.* I am only looking at what is actually for
sale. I cannot believe that all that stuff is still for sale
and I do not think it is the moderators job to clean out any
    leftover junk.

I hate it when I have to track down several ie this and ie that
and re .xx this and that are still left.

If you don't think this is a good idea then tell me so! Please
    don't ignore this note!

This is a lousy idea. Then we get to see all these new notes that
still contain stuff we weren't interested in in the first place. A Better
way to do it would be to put one item only per note, and delete that note
when sold.

Do you really think that anyone would do this? I seems like a great
deal of trouble. I like the new notes telling me what is still
available because I sometimes change my mind and want to pick something
up. I also gives the seller an opportunity to change the price.
I think your alternative would be too much trouble and no one would
    use it.

    Any other opinions out there?

    re: -.2?

If noters are too lazy to delete a particular reply when an item is
sold, what makes you think they will bother removing entire notes?

Plus is the complications on someone, other than the author replying to
the note - only the moderator may remove/delete notes which he/she
has not written...seems like it makes unnecessary work for the
    moderators

You can delete notes that you your self have written, at least I have,
If you've modified your prices on what you have for sale, something that
was of no interest before to some one who couldn't afford it, might be
    of interest to them now.
I would think it would be up to the individual to extract his old note,
re-edit it, re-insert it, and delete his old note.
Also, the individual should delete a note if the item is sold.
I thought this is what we were supposed to be doing all along.
