3570.0. "Help needed with a Phoenix Controller" by ACESMK::SNIDER () Sat Mar 10 1990 00:01

I recently bought a phoenix hard drive controler. I'm using a
Western Digital SCSI-st506 converter and one 10MB tandom drive
and one rd53. The problem is that when I use the low level format
I can only format for a 5 mb drive. It doesn't make any different
the number of cylinders, number of heads, and sectors I use. Once
the numbers pass a combination of 5mb, the format start to error
out. The format command then aborts after 128 errors. The format
command displays 'vers.1', I'm not sure what version of the driver I
have. Any ideas on what is going on?

I didn't know that they made this type of controller!!

Could you give me more details of this controller

Does this SCSI - St506 controller support full SCSI command set?

I know that OMTI have two types one supports the Common Command Set (
the 3520 3527 ?) and and OMTI Command Set (7100 etc possible not
    useful)

The controller model number is a WD1003A-SCS. I don't have much
more information except how to jumper it. Like the adaptec it does
handle 2 st506 drives. I have not tested this yet.

In the ibmpc notes file there was a pointer to some western digital
refer. information, but there was nothing about this controller.
The directory is in cscmas::sys$msdos:[wd*]. When I have more
about the controller I'll post it.

I'm still not able to format the drive completely yet. I also have the
use of a rd53. I would like some assistance from some local to
Merrimack, NH, who would be willing to help in formating the drive.
You can either give me a call at dtn 264-0837 or send email.

Thanks from a frustrate new hard drive owner
