3563.0. "WPS Editor for Amiga anybody?" by YUPPY::PEGLEY () Thu Mar 08 1990 14:24

    In order to avoid having to take a VAXmate home or spend hours
    connected via dialup, I would like to be able to transfer WPS documents
    from All-in-1 to my Amiga and then work on them locally before
    returning them to All-in-1.

    Easy I here you cry, but I also want to preserve WPS page breaks,
    bolds, underlines, formats etc. I have tried Wordperfect, but this
    translates the document into Wordperfect format.

    Anybody come across a cut-down WPS editor that will run on an A500
    with 2 floppies and 1 meg?.

    Does A1 WPS use standard escape sequences for bold, underline, etc? If
    so you may look at SEDT which runs on both the Amiga and VMS. I never
    use WPS, as SEDT does everything I could want with EDT keypad
    emulation.

3563.2SEDT - Where is it?YUPPY::PEGLEYFri Mar 09 1990 10:274
    Might be worth a looksee. Does it exist on the network or will I
    have to part with hard cash?

Check CGOU01::AMNEW:SEDTDOC.ARC,SEDTFT5A.ARC,SEDTMAN.EDT for the Amiga
versions.

    Check CGOU01::AMNEW:SEDT*.* again. They (not my system) sometimes have
    the Amy disk software disabled. I suggest try accessing after hours,
    8-5 MST as this may be why the disable the volume. For New Englanders
    that time would outside of 10-7.

    I checked this morning and could access the system fine.

    I forget who converted SEDT for Amy but I sure he reads this
    conference.  Any new version yet?

    Thanx,

    re .5

    Hi again Ed,

    re .4

    The disk with the Amy stuff on it should usually be available.
    Sometimes the system is down for real work stuff, but we try to keep
    that to a minimum .... ;^)..

3563.7Where is the WPS version?YUPPY::PEGLEYWed Mar 14 1990 18:1810
    Well, I downloaded SEDT tonight and got it working without too much
    problem. It maps the standard EDT key functions OK, but I noted
    in the Readme file it talks about using a SEDT.WPS file for WPS
    mapping. This file is not in the standard archive so I can't try
    it out.

    Does anybody know if the .WPS map is available on the AMIGA, or
    was only for the AT**RI version?

3563.8I HAVE AMIGA SEDT .WPS FILESPOLAR::GOSLINGThu Mar 15 1990 20:1513
       Re: .7

       Steve,

       I have taken Dick Danek's SEDT version 3 .WPS KEY and HELP files
       and made some very minor modifications to implement them with the
       AMIGA version of SEDT. I am using an A1000, but changing them to
       take advantage of the extra keys on the A500/2000 would be easy.

       I will pull them together tonite and put them on the net.

3563.9WPS FILES UPLOADEDPOLAR::GOSLINGFri Mar 16 1990 12:3313
       As promised, I have uploaded the .WPS KEY and HELP files (along
       with my SEDT.CNF). The ARC can be found in:

                POLAR::AMIGA_PUBLIC:WPS_SEDT_FILES.ARC

       Note that this is in Stream_lf format.

       There is a READ.ME included that you should read.

       Any problems, let me know.

    Thanks for putting the WPS files together for me. I will download
    then tonight.

    I am only a simple soul, what is the relevence of the Stream_LF

3563.11Are they really there?ENOVAX::BARRETTOf Optical Mice and Men...Tue Mar 20 1990 14:192
    I just tried to do a directory on POLAR::AMIGA_PUBLIC and all I saw
    was UUENCODE and DECODE.
3563.12havin' a spot of bother.GIDDAY::LAWSONWed Mar 21 1990 20:2314
    The whole thing seems so easy, so I must be doing something very
    wrong......

    Whilst in the root directory of DH0:

    		MAKEDIR SEDT

    		ASSIGN SEDT$DIR: DH0:SEDT

    Trouble is, my system doesn't like the "$" in SEDT$DIR. i.e. it wont
    make the assignment.

    Any suggestions?

       re: .11

       Stream_lf is the format xmodem likes for file transfers. By the
       way, I somehow blew away the WPS files I uploaded. I think they
       are still on my VAXmate at work. If so, I will upload them again
       tomorrow morning. If not, then Thursday evening from home.

       re: .12

       You must be using ARP!? Do a DIR/TITLE=SEDT and check the notes
       for a discussion of how to get around the ARP / $ sign conflict.

    Art,

    I ahve copied the files to my host node, but have not had a chance
    to download yet. Hopefully tonight will be the night to check it
    out!

    Thanks
