    Well its finally happened for all A500 users:-

    	A PC board that plugs into wait for it the A501 Memory slot!

    The board is from a Dutch company called KCS. U.K. distrbutors is
    Bitcon Devices (Tel:-091 490 1975)

    The board is based on an NEC V30 mircoprocessor running at 8MHz has
    Phoenix BIOS and the board is fitted with 1 Meg Memory,and a clock.

    In MS-DOS mode the machine has 704K plus 64K of extended mem.

    The PC Power Board supports Monochrome,Hercules and CGA video, it will
    also support the internal 3.5" disk, one external 3.5" and one 5.25"
    unit.

    Installation is via a short GFA Basic program.

    The Ami joystick port can be used/config as PC COM1,COM2 and the serial
    comm can be set upto 9600 baud.

    There is still a lot of work left to do on this board (software wise)
    to support Harddisk and to format the internal 3.5" disk.

    How much .? 299 pounds sterling. and you get a small PCB,1meg of mem a
    clock, a RAM-resident Hypertext-based DOS help utility Phoenix DOS Help
    Microsoft's MS-DOS V4.01 and PC GW Basic.

    All info obtained from:-

3482.1Memory use ?AYOV28::ATHOMSONC'mon, git aff! /The Kelty ClippieThu Feb 15 1990 10:576
    Very interesting... Does it say anything in the article if the 1MB
    can be used by AmigaDOS when the PC board isn't being used ? I'd
    be concerned that I couldn't migrate to 1Mb chip with a fat agnus
    if the amiga couldn't see the new memory.

3482.3Dutch review.JGO::CHAPMANFri Feb 16 1990 09:429
    Ther was a review of this in a Dutch magazine about two months ago.
    I didn't pay too much attention since I have a 2000, but it was
    a very positive review. I remember it didn't support a hard disc
    (even as a partition on an Amiga drive?) though. I will look out
    the details again over the weekend and post if it adds anything
    of value.

3482.4The Amiga can see 512k of the ram.AYOV28::ATHOMSONC'mon, git aff! /The Kelty ClippieFri Feb 16 1990 11:218
    I just get the March copy of Amiga User International at lunchtime,
    and there's an article about this board in it. Apparently the 1Mb
    of ram on board is split into 2 512k banks, one of which can be
    seen by AmigaDOS as the normal $C00000 A501 512k, and the other
    bank can be used with some supplied S/W as a 512k ram: type disk.
    (It can't be seen by AmigaDOS to autoconfigure)

3482.5Anyone using the board ?MAN01::KRAUSSFri Feb 16 1990 12:2911
    Two more questions:

    1.	Is it possible to use the board with 512K of memory while running
    	the Amy with a BigAgnus-chip ?
    2.	Is there something like this for the A2000 ?
    	(No, I don't think of a PC-XT/AT Bridgeboard, but something
    	like this which is not C= )

    Thanks
    	Michael

    Is this the same one mentioned in the June issue of Amazing Amiga
    (pg48)? It is called the Power PC Board and will be sold by Eric
    Miller (Dr. Oxide). I wrote to Compusave about three weeks ago asking
    for more info, if I get anything new I will post it here. They were
    selling at New York world of Amiga for $550.00.

    Maybe I can finnaly put my Rainbow out to pasture.
