3480.0. "AmigaNOS 900201" by DICKNS::MACDONALD (WA1OMM 7.093/145.05/223.58 AX.25) Wed Feb 14 1990 18:30

I have a copy of the latest KA9Q NOS software developed for the
    Amiga by WA3YMH.

Most of the activity is on 144.91 and 145.51 with switches to packet
    and usenet.

I have been using the 890810 version for sometime now. Seems to
    work okay.

This archive contains only the NET program, nothing else. Extract
    it on your Amiga.

Picture this ... internet using radio rather than landline.

3480.3Ooh, now everyone can hear my transmissions?BSS::CALLAGHANlast hymn is sung, Devil cries MOREThu Feb 15 1990 19:4810

Sounds excellent, but I would be concerned about the
security of it (for any work stuff, or even my private
	exchanges)

	* Does it allow for encryption?
	* What kind of transciever equip do you need?

By law, amatuer radio is a public service and a hobby. Business
communications are not allowed. Also, encryption of communications
is not allowed. Although the packets are a form of digital "encryption"
they can be copied with TNC's readily available from local sources.
Usenet material gets distributed to me via radio. It is quite amazing!

Interested in learning more about it? Attend a local amateur radio
club meeting! With a scanner, a TNC, and a simple terminal or terminal
program for your computer, you can monitor the activity on 145.01,
    145.03, 145.05, 145.07, 145.09, 144.91, 145.51. There is also packet
activity on 448 MHz, 221 MHz, and HF.

Thanks, thats a good place to start, I will do so!!

BTW, can you recommend any texts that would be useful?

Does this mean what I think it means? USENET from my house for free?
At what baud rate? What is a TNC?

I think you need Matt Dillons UUCP package for that.

A few bug fixes. No more privilege problems with the mailbox, or
gurus with SMTP KICK when a file is locked.
