3438.0. "How to connect a CGA/EGA Monitor" by DAVIDS::KUBELKA (David Kubelka, Valbonne 828-5421) Mon Feb 05 1990 16:12

I have a monitor which was used on an IBM/PC. It has two modes with the
following pins:

Mode 1: R,G,B,I,H+,V+,GND
Mode 2: R, R', G, G', B, B', H+, V-

Does anyone know how to connect this monitor and if it is at all possible. I
tried some combintations but the results have been disapointings, like loss
of some colors, etc.

best regards
David Kubelka

3438.1I think you have a digital monitor.AIMHI::DEROOMon Feb 05 1990 19:2616
    I think you are dealing with a digital instead of analog monitor.
    digital monitors cannot come close to comparing to analogs in either
    image quality or diversity of available colors. With that said, the
    monitor should work but you should not expect anything like what analog
    monitors will show you.

    You mention loss of colors....does this mean that all the data is
    present on the screen but the colors are not as they should be :
    for example 3 shades of blue all show as the same shade ? If so this
    may be the best you can hope for. I have just finished hooking up
    non-supported monitors to my 500 and would be happy to talk with you
    further.

    good luck-
    Ken

I think "EGA" monitors will only display 16 colors.
