3408.0. "I wanna build my own memory expander!!" by JGO::ENG_STAG (PRTE Nijmegen Netherlands) Wed Jan 31 1990 10:38

    I was wondering if I could build my own memory-expander for my A500.
    Is there anyone out there which has experience with this stuff.
    Maybe someone has some detailed maps about this sort of things.
    Please put your address on this note so I can reach you.

    Greetings,

3408.1We're poor at my house.DNEAST::SEELEY_BOBWed Jan 31 1990 13:2716
    I'm also poor. I will eventually patch some more memory into my lowly
    A500 to increase it from it's present 1 meg. I'd like to boost it to
    3 meg to make my TurboSilver experimenting a little easier... I hate it
    when I run out of space on a complex object. I am tempted to plug it
    in as a tediously hand-wired manual configure. I would like to know
    exactly how the auto-config works, so that, maybe, I could do it as
    an auto-configure.

    If some plans exist for several meg's of external memory, I would also
    like to know about it, instead of re-inventing the wheel twice. I know
    that somewhere in the public domain, or elsewhere, someone must have
    already done this.

    Is anyone knowledgeable about this (<CB>?)???

3408.2Look on Fish 27BOMBE::MOOREBaN CaSe_sEnSiTiVe iDeNtIfIeRs!Wed Jan 31 1990 21:574
    Well, there is a memory expansion project on Fish disk #27, schematic
    and description, I believe. This one was to plug into the A1000's
    expansion port, but would probably adapt for the 500 fairly well.
    (Mostly mechanical differences)
3408.3Make it autoconfig...FROCKY::BALZERChristian Balzer DTN:785-1029Thu Feb 01 1990 12:5910

    I don't remember if the Fish 27 project was autoconfig, but I suppose
    not. You should make it autoconfig, unless you're 100% sure that
    you'll never have another autoconfig device in the system...
    Documentation about building Amiga hardware can be obtained from
    CBM.
