3332.0. "IFF to Slides or Prints - Test" by FSDEV3::JBERNARD (John Bernard 292-2591 YWO/E3) Fri Jan 12 1990 14:14

I have just purchased a film recorder for the Amiga. I would like
to try this unit out with as much diverse input (IFF) as possible
to develop a bit of expertise with the unit. I purchased the unit
since the cost of having a custom house do the slides was prohibitive
for an individual (approx 210.00 for 24 files).

    So...

If you would like to get some of your IFF files on film (slide or
print), send me a floppy with the pictures and a roll(s) of film.
Ill transfer the files to film and send you back the floppy and
film. You develop it and give me some feedback on the quality.

I'll only be doing this for a couple of weeks, and since this is
a learning curve, I don't guarantee the quality. I have done
some tests of simple files for presentations, and they did look pretty
    good using the default setup.

For best results, the film should be ASA 10

The film recorder is a Polaroid Palette which I used on an I*M clone.
The interface is from Liquid Light which consists of a hardware
interface which plugs into the serial and composite video ports
and the software to drive the Palette. So far, it has handled
everything from screen grabs to ham, overscan, EHB, etc.. I haven't
    tried dynamic hires yet.

I'm still in the test and adjust stage to try and fill as much of
a 35mm frame as possible and still keep correct aspe ratios
    and linearity.

I tried Polariod Polachrome instant 35mm slide film, and although
I don't care for the film, the results were quite reasonable.

Unless you plan to use the unit quite a bit, it is quite pricey.
The film recorder is about $1600, and the interface from Liquid
Light is another $495. As a friend of mine just remarked, it's
getting so that the cheapest part of the system is the CPU!
