3273.0. "Commodore dropping Amiga??????" by RLAV::LITTLE (Todd Little, NYA SWS, 323-4475) Sat Dec 30 1989 01:03

Does this note that I scarfed out of the comp.sys.amiga.tech news group
bear any resemblence to reality? Or is this someone's idea of humor?

Having just read in todays paper that Commodore has decided to
drop the Amiga from its product line up, isn't it about time to
create comp.sys.orphans for it and various other computing flivvers ?

At the same time we can, I think, safely remove comp.sys.amiga
and .tech.

It's someone's idea of a sick joke. There's been lots of talk lately
about creating new groups for games, hardware, etc. You'll notice that
it was cross-posted to news.groups which has been the site of much mud
slinging lately. My guess is that this guy was just tired of hearing
the csa and csat readers argue about creating new Amiga newsgroups.

    Don't fret yet.

Copperman laid the C=128 models to rest in spite of their continued
sales and profit generation. He is reputed to have said that the
C=65 (a new, faster, more powerful "C=64" sitting ready for production)
will go to market over his dead body. The company has spent major
monies in the last few months promoting Amiga sales and not a penny
in who-knows-how-long promoting any of the 8-bit systems. Amiga
sales generate much larger profits per unit than the C=64. Now,
we can all point to at least one stupendous blunder out of Commodore
management but I seriously doubt if the next will involve dropping
the Amiga. All the indications are that they intend to produce nothing
BUT the Amiga starting just as soon as that can be arranged.

The message included above is a forgery.

I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in the Amiga line of computers,
and could care less about the Amiga groups.

I know of no such newspaper article. If I had seen one, I would have
cited newspaper, date, and page.

Please ignore that forged message.
