3220.0. "Linedrawing doesn't work w/vt100 emul. in ATALK3 v1.1" by 29633::CALLAGHAN (If money(TALKS); mine says(GOODBYE)) Thu Dec 14 1989 01:15

I've installed atalkIII(version 1.1a) on my hard disk
    	(40 meg on an A2000HD workbench 1.3).

When I run it and read anything (like notes) with
any line drawing I get qqqqq, xxxx, etc... instead.

Now if I run it from the floppy (which uses workbench 1.2)
    	no sweat, lines are ok.

I've contacted ATALK (oxxi inc.), and besides a demo
in lousy customer support skills by someone who obviously
was out of his league, it was suggested I do a:

    	COPY DF0:FONTS FONTS: ALL

to insure all *.font files got moved. Problem still remains.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

3220.1NOTIBM::MCGHIEThank Heaven for small Murphys !Thu Dec 14 1989 07:038
Did the copy command copy all of the directories in the DF0:FONT
    directory ?

Typically there is a font file e.g. TOPAZ.FONT and an associated
directory called TOPAZ which may contains file named 8, 11 etc.

    Regards

I use ATalk III all the time and it works ok. There was (maybe still
is) a problem in the hard disk installation procedure which didn't
copy all the Font subdirectories. As I recall, the only problem it
caused was that the small fonts weren't there if you try 132 col mode.

I'm running from a hard disk also. I'll look at my settinngs tonight.
I ran into something like this before. I don't remenber what I was
doing wrong but I recall that the VAX end kept making my terminal
    something other than a VT100.

I also tried FIXFONTS, and so far no luck. I'm also trying to

3220.4fonts are still wrongHPSCAD::GATULISFrank Gatulis 297-6770Sat Dec 16 1989 03:0531
    re .3

I see the problem now ......

Your still missing font subdirectories. From .3 it looks as if you
    copied the wrong subdirectories.
     u(dir)
     f(dir)
     g(dir)
     i(dir)
     s(dir)
     d(dir)
on your hard disk are the language directories from the ATalk
installation disk. Get rid of those from your hard disk. Then
copy the following directory structures to your hard disk fonts
directory and you should be all set.

     vt100ar1(dir)
     vt100sm(dir)
     vt100uk(dir)
     vt100sg(dir)
     vt100smg(dir)

The USA versions of these fonts are on the first ATalk III disk. If
your in a foreign country you'll find them in the (u,f,g,i,s or d)
directories on the installation disk. Each of thos directories is for
    a different language.

    Good Luck
    Frank

    	WEll,

That was my next step, and also I got the latest version
    		of ATALKIII (1.2d)

And made sure it put the fonts in FONTS:
where FONTS: is WORKBENCH:fonts and it
    		works.

    							thanks for all the
    							help,

3220.6Couple questions on 1.2dHPSCAD::GATULISFrank Gatulis 297-6770Thu Jan 11 1990 01:5018

    Yea!

I happen to call Oxxi today and they said there's a new version of
ATalk III coming up and that update notices will be sent out in about
    2 weeks.

    Jack,

Do you happen to know if the new version is 1.2d also?

Does the version you just got have a VT200 emulator?

Does the version you just got alow you to swap BACKSPACE and DELETE
    keys for Vt100 emulation?

    Thanks

        Frank,

I think they said it was to be the new release (not sure)

So far no VT200 emulation (damn!)

As far as I can tell we are still stuck with Delete and Backspace
the way they are (always catches me going from GPX to Amiga kbd)

    					sorry for no better news,

    							Jack
