3210.0. "OFF 1/2 SPACE, WHY?" by SASE::ROY () Tue Dec 12 1989 15:38

I have a question about Pro Write. I was typing a price list for a
side business of mine. I made a mistake and used the delete key and
took out the mistake and then retyped the correct price, however when I
retyped the price if would not line up with the rest of the column. It
was off by a 1/2 space. I ended up with a column that looked like

                           |
                            |
                           |
                           |
What did I do wrong? I checked the manual and unless I missed somthing
there was nothing about this situation there. I tried erasing it again
and re-entering but it would not correct it.

    Thanks for any help.

I've seen that, and I think it may be a bug. I won't happen if you're
using a fixed-width font (like Topaz or Siesta).

Try substituting Topaz and then converting again to the proportional
    font. That's worked for me.

I don't know what causes it either. When it happens to me I use tab
stops to make my columns line up. With prices you probably want
    decimal tabs.

Make sure that, when you go back to fix one of the lines within a block of
figures, you use the same set of tabs for each line. You probably have each line
defined as a separate paragraph and it's possible that when you went back to fix
something you carried along a different set of tabs. Also, you must use Topaz
11, and you should use the decimal tab to align your columns of numbers.
