| I got it.
I personally view it as an extension of the manual. I don't think
that there is anything in the video that is not covered in the
manual - in much greater detail. The video is certainly not a
substitute for the manual.
I'm the type who likes to see - at a superficial level - what it
takes to get from point A to point B, and indeed what B looks
like. ..."Suppose you want your company logo to appear in the top
left corner; travel to the centre of the screen - rotating on its
x and y and z axis and doubling in size while on its journey; and
then have it change from yellow to purple. Here's how it would be
done using DPAINT III"... The video did that for me.
With that basic understanding of the concepts, I can dive right
in, referring to the manual only to fill in the voids. As an
example, I found some of the concepts and terms (as referenced in
the manual) associated with perspective and animation a bit
foreign. The video helped put them into perspective (no pun
intended).
It was also obvious that you had to have your vcr/tv next to your
AMIGA in order to try and follow what the 'instructor' was doing.
I tried running between my hole in the basement (banished for
life), to the living room, but found that by the time I made the
round trip journey, I had either forgot what the instructor on the
video said to do, or what I had already done on the AMIGA.
Is it worth $30? I don't think so. $15-20 - sure!
I recall an ad offering the video free with the purchase of
DpaintIII. Problem is, I think it was an EA offer. If I'm right,
they want about $30 more for DpaintIII then what you can get it
from a mail order house for anyway. So, no net gain!
But what the heck, its only money!
