3051.0. "DIGA woes..." by CSOA1::CURTIS () Fri Oct 27 1989 17:16

Does anyone out there use DIGA!, the comm software package ? I have
a problem with configuration files and scripts. If I save a config
file using the VT100 emulator and open it later, I get a hang and
I have to reboot. If I open the config by clicking on the icon in
the config drawer, it seems to work. I have an A500 with 1 MEG and
the Commodore 1680 modem. Once I get the configuration loaded, the
    program does seem to work.

Also, in trying to use a script file to get logged in, there seems
to be some quirk using the WAIT command. I only seem to get so far
with execution of the script and then it hangs.

    Any ideas ??? Ray

DIGA! is one woefull excuse (underline excuse) for a
telecommunications packa. I got it as part of the big Christmas
promotional bundle that Commodore was selling last year (you know, the
one with PageSetter, WordPerfect, etc.?). I spent several evenings
locked in mortal combat with DIGA! trying to do a lot of the same
things that you're doing. I'm sure that they've fixed some of the bugs
from the first release (the version I got struck me as beta-test
quality), but the whole package still leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
I've seen PD comm packages far superior to DIGA!.

I second that opinion! I believe my version is 1.0 and I have
experienced the same frustrating lock-up problems when using VT100
emulation. I have since gone to a shareware VT200 telecommunation
    package.

I just purchased an Avatex-1200e modem and am starting to enter
the fun world of downloading. But, if I do have v1.0 DIGA! what
are my options. Should I get the timesharing communications programs
referred to here and HOW? (since I won't be able to use DIGA!).
    Please, respond .............

Assumingn that DIGA! is virtually non-functional (a safe assumption,
based on the reviews), you should get HandShake or VLT, which are
    pretty popular and very robust.

E-mail me and I'll arrange to get you a disk with HandShake on it.

RE: .3

Dunno about everyone else, but I get really irked when noters imply
foul language through the use of asterisks. Do it on your local BBS, but
not on a Digital Notes Conference. Or, resort to the sublime, as Ed did
in .5.
