3045.2Is it a bird, a plane? No, it's a German noter. ;-)FRAMBO::BALZERChristian Balzer DTN:785-1029Wed Oct 25 1989 15:0117
    Re: .1

Don't worry, it seems to me that the fellow in .0 has nothing essential
to say anyway. For anybody in need of a translation, the topic title
means "What the heck is happening here" and the message is a German
saying that translates roughly into "I don't get it". This implies
either the inability of the author of .0 to understand English or
to operate notes or certain minimal rules for posting something
into such a public forum or all of the above.
Thanks to my handy dandy DTN book I know who .0 is and I'll try
to shed some light on his problem(s), if I ever get thru to him. ;-)

    Regards,

    P.S. Bahnhof means railway station.

Well, I just talked to Mr. Vieten and this topic is indeed the result
of a test. The contents and the fact that it's in German is a kinda
revenge for the overall English/American ignorance towards foreign
languages, or so Mr. Vieten says.

He promised not to do it again, so I decided to let him go
    unpunished... ;-) ;-)

Hope you all had fun and learned some German. ;-)

Mr. Moderator, you may now delete this topic.

    Thanks,

Sad to say that the English-speaker's ignorance of foreign language
is nothing new. In Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice," the Italians
make fun of the sole Englishman for his (and his country's) inability
to learn even one foreign language. So we have at least 400 years
of English parochialism.

Of course, I personally have remained true to this tradition.
