2640.0. "How to use your Amiga" by LETO::BLACKJ () Wed Jun 14 1989 20:22

Hi, I was interested in what various things everyone is using their
amiga for. Maybe we can all get some new ideas on how we can use our
    equipment.

Well I guess I'll start. I use my Amiga mainly as a video, audio
workstation. I use Digiview and Deluxe Paint II to create pictures
and animation cels to be used in Deluxe Video. I also have a couple
of synthesizers ( Yamaha DX7II and Kawai k1 ) that I use to make
    soundtracks ( via soundscape ) .

Deluxe video is a great vidoe station but it doesn't support HAM
and I wish the music could be output srtaight out to Middi instead
of the amiga samples. Does anybody know why electronic arts left
Ham support out of Deluxe Video and Paint. It can't be technical
because Photolab has the ability to support all the amiga resolutins
on the screen at once, (or am I wrong ? ).

Look forward to hearing from you all........

I use my amiga for programming and playing games. I use my apple//e
for biznuss. I only program games because it is easier and more
fun. I programmed a game in amigabasic that has sonix music, deluxe
paint pictures, zoetrope animation and digitized sounds.

I got an Amiga for the same reason I got a Porsche 944 when they first
came out... I am a deranged individual who had a deprived childhood,
and grew into a disgustingly materialistic pig who had to have the best
of everything. The Amiga was (and is) the most technically interesting
PC one could have, and is probably my most cherished toy.

I now use my Amiga for everything (well, not THAT!); games, home
finance, engineering-type problem solving using MaxiPlan and a
smattering of BASIC. I also like to create these long-winded technical
papers that no one ever reads, using ProWrite. I've dabbled in music,
but haven't a shred of talent. I've tried to do some serious CAD work
using X-CAD, which is a real honest-to-gosh professional quality
program, but I'm spoiled by the mega-buck hardware that I use at work.

My wife is slowly (after three years) becoming seduced by the Amiga.
It is so much slicker than the dumb Wang PC she uses at work. After
she has our child (in about 7 weeks) she plans to do a lot of contract
legal work at home, so it looks like I'll be investing in an HP DeskJet
    and PrintScript.

Well, I suppose y'all guessed by now what I use my system for, it
should be development (the Software Brewery is a registered commercial
developer). But I find myself using it at least as often for playing
(good/strategic) games, writing and reading UseNet articles.
And of course there's Ed's reason, that suits me quite well. :-)

The main reason I bought the amiga was for the sound. I use sonix
to create realistic music. Not the kind of music you hear on most
games. The music I create sounds like something out of a stereo.
Maybe I should of bought a Apple//gs but I saw one of thier graphic
demos and it made me roll with laughter.
