2618.0. "OUTRUN or DISCDRIVE" by BAHTAT::BOOTH () Fri Jun 02 1989 09:49

I Bought OUTRUN on Monday, for 9.99, I took it home, and it didn't
work, I'd only had my AMIGA for two days, so I thought it might
be the drive there was also a game i'd got with the comp that didn't
    work (ELIMINATOR).
I took OUTRUN back, and had it replaced straight away, and the other
one too. But, when I got home these didn't work either.

Yesterday I took my computer back to the shop and had it tested,
the computer in the shop wouldn't load Eliminator, but would load
OUTRUN, so anyway he messed around for half an hour until he found
an ELIMINATOR that worked on my AMIGA. He said that OUTRUN was a bit dodgy
as it only loaded on machines it wanted to, and as I hadn't bought
it there, the software must be faulty and not the AMIGA.

Can anyone tell me if the same thing has happened to them with OUTRUN,
    or other games.

    Thanx,
    Rob.

I've found that Outrun takes at least three minutes to load on both
may machines (a1000, a2000). Starglider II refuses to load on either
machine. Rainbird has sent me new copies, the store has replaced
my copies, none of them work. (The store had no problem getting
them to work on their machine...)

I've had outrun now for about 3 months on my Amiga 2000. So far, there have been
no loading problems although I,ve been disappointed with the rough
display motion (as compared with the arcade version). My question
is where was the program available for $9.99? I paid $65.00 Canadian
for it! Are there other programs available for such low prices?

2618.3DOWN IN PRICE ?BAHTAT::BOOTHTue Jun 06 1989 09:5519
    Well,

I think U.S. Gold are releasing their titles under the new price
of #9.99 or at least some of their older software, I have seen a
few titles for ST and AMIGA for #9.99, and I think it's to do with
the Label KLASSIX, as you may already know U.S. GOLD and other
companies are re-releasing software under different labels for all other
machines at #2.99 (I bought ROADRUNNER for my C64 at this price,
and under the same label). Durrel did TURBO ESPRIT under the ENCORE
title. So maybe they are going to re-release software at a knock
down price too. I hope so!

I have only seen OUTRUN for the AMIGA and LEADERBOARD for the ST
at these prices, although i've been told there are more.

I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

    Rob.

    ROB,

Note 2618.2 was refering to dollars!!!! U.S. Gold are releasing
budget St/Amiga games but in the U.S. I have no idea what the situation
    is.
