2587.0. "Prettifying Pictures" by NITMOI::WITHERS (So shines a good deed in a weary world..) Mon May 22 1989 20:10

    Hello all.

I am curious what utilities people use to cleanup digitized pictures?
PixMate doesn't seem to quite cut it for thie operation as it seems
more geared at "real" image processing not "prettifying".

The pictures are clear, grabbed by a ZapShot Still Video Camera and
read in by DigiView V3.0 through the SunRize Color Splitter.

    Thanx,
    George

I've never done anything with digitized pictures, since I don't have
any video input, but I have done cleanup on synthetic images. The
only satisfactory method I've used is to go into the picture with
a pixel-level editor and modify the pixels by hand, one at a time.
Given the low resolution of current video displays, I dispair of
writing a program to do a good job of cleanup.

2587.2ButcherLOWLIF::DAVISThat's not a BUG, it's a FEATURE!Wed May 24 1989 03:297
I had a quick glance at Butcher once and it looks like just the thing you
might be looking for. I remember thinking that most of its features seemed
geared towards photography (i.e. digitized pictures) rather than computer
art (as in Deluxe Paint). It had a lot of options for color too. Perhaps
someone else knows more about it.
