2508.0. "Aunt Artic" by MAMIE::LEIMBERGER () Wed Apr 26 1989 10:39

I spent the weekend playing Aunt Artic. This is a great game, but
has a few drawbacks.the game is much in the vein of Mario bros, but
You take the shape of a monkey. The object is to get through 50 levels
of play to save your friends aunt.It all starts when you drop through
a hole and into an underground complex. The first level is pretty
much straight forward, jump, climb around until you get all the bananas
and a key then go to the next level. The second level offers different
challanges, and is fairly interesting.the Third got better, and took
awhile to find all the goodies.I am at the forth now.
    Bad Points- 1.can't multitask
    		2.would not boot on a 1000 with 512k wb 1.3
3.very much copy protected.Power light flickers when
you boot the game, and it must be booted cold.
4.high scores etc writes to disk
    Good points- 1.good playability
2.You can restart at the last level or lower when you
    			reboot to play again.(.4 above)
3.If you get killed on any level after touching a silver
triangle your next man starts their(until all die)
4.great sound and music-(can be disabled in startup
    		  menu)
    		 5. good graphics
    		 6.pause feature
7.two player mode(other is penguin loos for fish
    		   (I think,havent trie it yet)
    		 8.highly addicting
The dealer I purchased it from said NIB could back it up but
I haven't got it to do so yet.You can also send a slip with 10.00
for another archive copy.If you purchase the game read the docs
and it will tell you how to clear the high scores, and player names.
You will probably want to do this before you really settle down
to play.BUT FIRST !!!!check out the player names, and see what levels
they left off at.One on the disk I got was at level four.It was
neat to take a peek at what lies ahead.I left it at the menue page
and came back later to see it running a demo of level 29 It looked
great. If you need a diversion once in a while this is the game.It
is coin op quality, but still requires a little thought.

I am currently on level 6.Level 5 was quite a bit different. You appear to be in
a darker more dungen like area. The music for this level is the best so far.
While not difficult it required some practice before I cleared this level.I
think their are three new dangers to beware of.Also if you go to the door to
level 6 before you get all the banananas,AND have a key you are trapped and
have to start a new game.I got stuck with 6 men left, and had to quit.Level
six is much like level 5 but with a few new twists.

I concur - highly addictive game.

What is the secret to getting over the flames that shoot up and
down in level 4? Or is it a matter of luck, timing and
       perseverance?

Of course its my daughter that wants to know!! :-)
