2507.0. "Amiga in BYTE" by STAR::ROBINSON () Tue Apr 25 1989 18:31

I didn't read every detail, but there is a somewhat positive article
in BYTE magazine on graphics. The article reviewed PCs, MACs, & Amigas in
that order and said essentially that that order was from worst to best.
The only misleading/wrong thing was a comment about Amiga multitasking being
a "kind of multitasking" relating it to the fact that there are multiple chips
working simultaneously.

I couldn't help but wonder if this was the remains of the famous special
graphics issue/art contest that was rumored to be "cancelled" due to excess
Amiga picture contributions and meager PC/MAC contributions. There were a
few nice pictures, but no obvious credits. And the picture on the cover was
some new box, not a computer graphic.

The author's name was Robinson, so it couldn't be all bad... ;-}

It was the special graphics issue.

The Amiga cover was "in there." For these special issues, Byte just
pretends that the middle of the magazine is a separate magazine unto
itself. It has its own cover, its own table of contents, and they
renumber the pages starting a 1. First time I came across this, I
thought that the magazine hadn't been glued together right since I
noticed page 20 was in the center of the magazine.

There was an Amiga graphic as the fake magazines inside cover. It
wasn't very good: the Amiga graphics that have been used as covers
of AmigaWorld or Amiga Transactor are much better. I guess that
even poor Amiga graphics look good to people use to Mac IIs and
35 mz 80386 machines. :-)

     I'd guess this was the April issue. I read them in the ZK Library
     and not neccessarily when they first come out.
